No worries Ken. I've been doing porsches so long, I know exactly what you're talking about based on your description. Ask David if he did a full paint correction...you mentioned earlier it was 80%. What didn't he get out and why? If the imperfections are linear, then based on your technique, it might be you that's putting in the imperfections. That can be caused by using inferior wash mitt or towels, not washing top-to-bottom, and/or dunking the wash mitt back into the clean soap bucket after washing each panel.

As for Porsche paint being soft, it's more medium. It's my favorite paint to work on because of how predictable it is and how well it comes back to life despite any abuse you throw at it.

BTW, you earned your GP T-Shirt. Send me a PM with address and size and we'll get one to you. Great topic..i'm sure it's helping a lot of people out there.

Understood, I am quite sure its me putting them in. He brought it back 80% because its a daily driver. I am going to review my techniques and make sure I take more time.

Thanks Moe for the swag!

Hopefully it hasn't been answered yet... I am looking for a spray on wheel cleaner that needs as agitation as possible to work but also cannot be corrosive. Problem is my wheels are painted chrome (not real chrome) and anodized lips, anything too corrosive removes the finish and anything not strong enough leaves dirt and residue on the wheels. Any agitation on the painted chrome leaves micro scratches that once clean you can easily see, it is a great finish but not so easy to keep clean.

Got any ideas for great products?

Thanks!!!

P21S GEL Wheel Cleaner should do the trick. What you may want to do is make sure you don't get the brake dust built up for too long. Spray the gel wheel cleaner, allow it to dwell for 5-10 minutes. This is assuming wheels are cool to the touch and it's out of the sun.

Then, use a detail spray like Meguiar's Final Inspection and a soft mf towel to wipe off any excess dust that didn't come off with the rinsing of the wheels.

A good pressure washer will also help in getting majority of brake dust off. Hope this helps.

Thanks Moe, I will give it a try! I have used the P21S wheel cleaner before and it worked fairly well, haven't tried on my painted chrome wheels as of yet though.

Does P21S have a product similar to the Meguiar's Final Inspection?

Thanks again!

First, I'm sorry to hear about your experience with Swissvax. They're a great company that has some good products. Perhaps you should contact Phil or the company US headquarters in Florida. I cannot imagine either place not being able to help you. Phil for sure is known for his customer service and he should be able to help you in some way.

Now back to your question. For us, we only wash the matte surface with P21S Bodywork Shampoo and simply use a detail spray like Meguiar's Final Inspection to further clean and condition the paint. From what we've learned, you cannot polish or wax the satin paint as this will add gloss or a sheen to what's suppose to be a flat and matte surface. This paint is very tricky.

Your powdercoated wheels though can be cleaned with P21S Wheel Cleaner. Use the regular one as this is more gentle than the gel. For those times your wheels are dirtier, do another cleaning with a microfiber towel. The trick with your wheels, or any other wheel, is to not let the brake and rotor dust accumulate for more than 4-5 drives, or one long distance drive. This way, you don't ever have to get too aggressive with the wheels and they will keep their original look for a long time.

Great questions. Please PM me with your info and we'll get a shirt out to you

You'll need a pc or flex, menzerna power finish and orange and white pad. You may be able to get by with the white pad and power finish.

I have seen references to your 11-step guide but can't seem to find it.
Any help?

It was neat little cartoon bi-fold we made years ago to help our clients that liked to wash their cars. I'll try and scan it and post it here.

Hi Moe
Ordered the duster set from you as I am throwing out the Cali Duster!!
I have a few questions for you as a new DIYer for car cleaning.

I have a CLS63 AMG with a charcoal graphite paint from the Designo series. I usually have the local dealer do a complete detail 2/year. I think that I can do this myself as the paint is in pristine condition. I usually go through a touches car wash but I think that is not a good thing!
I am in the process of picking up a 2011 Grand Cherokee with a new Saddle leather interior.

With the GC coming in new, what do you suggest as a first step once it is picked up from the dealer?

As for being able to do quick washes and not spending the entire weekends detail my cars, what would you suggest from a product standpoint? I would be OK to do waxing/polishing once in every few months.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!
