Leather or leatherette and paint question

Hi folks,
I have a 997 with full leather package and I am about to get some leather care stuff.

But think only the back and the side are made out of "real" leather. The perforated area is only leatherette, I believe? Does anybody know if I am right and which product should be used?

Furthermore my paint is pretty messed up, although got it detailed in February. Swirls, Holograms and lots of minor scratches.

Sadly I have no machines for polishing, buffing etc.

What is the best way to start in my case?
I was about to order 1zett extra, 1zett wax and sonax wheelcleaner. For the first cleaning I might drive through a touchless carwash.

I hope you have some nice ideas. I really dont want to spend another 200$ on a detail, which partially doesnt work.....

Thanks and best Regards,
gee

First off, most if not all 'professional' details will cost you more than just $200. So, as they say, you get what you pay for.

As for getting rid of your paint imperfections, you either invest in a high quality random orbital (Flex>>Porter Cable) or get a 'professional' detail. Anything else will either not work or just temporarily fill in the swirls.

As for touchless car washes, that has been discussed here recently. Bottom line is stay away from them.

Mh okay thanks thats helps. The last weeks I got the car always hand washed. The results where ok, but it doesnt remove my problems
Touchless was just an idea.

Probably the best is to get a real good detail.....since i am not that experienced in detailing

You could actually do an excellent job yourself if you wanted to...you just need to figure out how far you want to go detailing and what your budget is.

Here are a few kits to help steer you in the right direction:

As for leather, you can treat the back of the seats same as the rest of the leather surfaces. I'd highly recommend leatherique products.

Where are you located?

I'll bet the "detail" you got is like most, they slap on some glazes to fill in the imperfections, cover it with a wax and in a few months it all evaporates or is washed off. So you have been taken, you need to find a true paint correction person.

Touchless car washes are great, however they use chemicals to clean, and these chemicals will reduce the life of any wax/sealant with repeated use. That said, its cheaper to replace the wax/sealant than to polish out swirls and scratches caused by dirty touch car washes.

Cheers,
Greg
