tint removal ?

any experience on tint removal? Heat gun or steamer seems to be best ideas? Links and which is the better method?

One advice...leave it to the pros. A lot can go wrong and a good shop doesn't charge a whole lot to remove it.

Easy!

I found a you tube video of a guy using a steamer and duplicated what he did. A second set of hands is important, and don't force it, let the steamer do the work. It was easy, glad I did it!

I did it using a heat gun. You are right, you cant pull it too soon.. Not a bog deal but a little messy... thanks, mark

Bumping a old thread but im debating about removing my tint anyone have any problems with the rear window? The defroster strips make me nervous

I d use a wallpaper steamer if I was going to do rear window. Side are not that hard at all.

Steamer

I just used a travel steamer for clothing and it was fine on the rear window, not a lot of heat just a lot of moisture. Just pull it steady and slow or you will leave some glue on the window.

Same here. I used my trusty clothing steamer. There was a little glue left behind on the rear window and for that I used a little windex. The ammonia practically dissolved whatever was remaining.

Steamer is the best method, IMO.

Agree about Steamer, I pulled on a 45 degree angle and it helped avoiding flaking off small pieces. Mine was on for 15 years.
