Why not inquire as to the nature of the salvage title.

At least you could determine if the car has any decent value.

 

Aside from the title, that is the perfect looking Modena. Just needs Tubi and OEM 3pc wheels.

 

It's a very nice color combo as well because the floor mats are black which is a good contrast to the bordeaux seats.

It may be a good deal.

I wouldnt touch any salvage car with a 10 foot pole! After seeing my friend's 360 go from totaled to "looking new" again, I would never trust any of these dealers. His car was 100% totalled and he got the insurance check for it. Next thing we know...it's been put back together and marketed as a car that was involved in a very minor fender bender!!!!

Unbelieveable!!!!

 

If you look closely at the picture there are oil stains and the upkeep is pretty crappy if you ask me...

Those are also pretty old pictures as well...

So, how much damage is too much? Would you buy a salvage title? Aren't the repairs held to a OEM standards, or are they lower then OEM?

 

the problem is that you'll never really know how bad the damage is/was. Dealers are obviously trying to move the car quickly, so do you really think they'll be honest about everything? Every salvage titled car I've seen online, etc. is always played down as if it was something minor...blah blah blah.

unless you're a stellar mechanic and know your ****...save your $ and purchase a non-salvage car.


in regards to carfax....that's garbage IMO. A good friend wrecked his car pretty bad a long time ago. His car was worth 25K and the damages were about 15K. He went through insurance and it never showed up on carfax!

 

This makes very good sense.

Did any of his air bags deploy?

I have heard that unless an airbag deploys an accident may not show up on CarFax.

I don't fully rely on CarFax either but it can be a good guide to help in the decision process.

 

No. If what you are saying is true about carfax accident reports and airbag deployment...carfax should be sued! An accident is an accident. Crazy!

 

I was in an accident in one of my cars, and the side air bag deployed. It was close to being totalled, but wasn't. The accident never showed on carfax.
