Is a scuderia a good 3 - 6 year "investment"?

My local dealer offered me a Red on black Scuderia with a few options, thinking to sell my '05 f430 6 speed with 9k on the odo and pick this car up for another 80k(CAD) on top.

I noticed back when the Challenge Stradale came out it has held its value much better than the nicer 360's of that day. Can I expect the same out of the Scuderia?

Also having second thoughts of even considering another car with my local Ferrari dealership. They annoy me sometimes I think its almost time to go back to the beloved p cars maybe with a gt3 rs which might suit my needs a bit better.

NO.

No cars are except very low production vintage Ferrari's.

Put the $ into a Wachovia 1 year CD at 4.14% and you'll do beter.

Hello:

If you research the $$ on Stradales which is the closet comparison to the Scuderia in the F-car world, you will find that they have been $200K +/- cars since new (These days real $$ is less than $200K).

The Stradale and Scuderia are variations of the production models (360 and 430) unlike the F40, F50, Enzo.

When you use the term "investment," and expect returns/appreciation like the "Super" Ferrari(s) I think in 6 years you will not be pleased.

Like you, I've been offered an incoming Scuderia (I assume the person who ordered it will not be following through) with a mark-up. I haven't committed at this time because IMHO the Scuderia will decrease in $$ around MSRP in the coming years (The first "used" Scuderia went for $500K +/- and there is a used one with less than 200 miles available for $399K).

Jotti, is this for you or your father?

For the price they are offering it you, I'd say it's a good deal. Will it appreciate? No. Will it depreciate less than your current F-car? Yes.

If you are being offered to trade your 2005 F430 and only pay an additional $80k... TAKE THE DEAL AND DON'T LOOK BACK!

But, I highly doubt this is the case...

An 05 F430 is worth ~$200K in Canada (less to a Ferrari dealer, obviously)... the means you'll be into the Scud for ~$280.

Considering the Scud has a list price in Canada of ~$350,000... something seems fishy here.

Like others have said...at the prices your stating...do it!

will it depreciate slower than a standard F430...i think so.

Will it appreciate in value...absolutely not. 99% of cars are not "financial investments", to me they are investments for your soul...and thats worth a lot more than the depreciation to me.

something to note...you currently drive a 6-speed or manual, i would assume that the Scud will be F1 or Egear...how do you feel about the switch?

me&you: your sentiments are right, the trade in is not offered by the dealer but I have an interested party and a flip through to minimize tax expenditure is always viable. May be looking at 100k, 80k is slightly optimistic

Falken: Good point about going from 6 speed to f1, looking forward to the switch having finally driven these beasts. Shifts faster than I can blink

agreed. Scuds will only drop (albeit very slowly) until many years from now when they become collectible.

Sorry, I still don't understand...

You have a (private) buyer for your F430?

And FMoV will facilitate that sale so you can use the F430 as a trade-credit to reduce the taxable amount?

And after having your F430 "flow through" FMoV, they will sell you a Scuderia for an additional $80-100k?

Sorry, but I still think you are being optimistic, either on what you are going to get for your car, or what FMoV will let the Scuderia go for.

Scud list at $350,000 - retail value of the 05 F430 at (an optimistic) $210,000 still = $140,000 + gst/pst...

Can you clarify?

(However, if you are being offered this deal for anywhere near your anticipated difference, DO IT!)

Even at $100K it's a good switch.
Jotti, is this car going to be yours?

FofV has a high KM F430 for under $200,000(CDN) and Mr. Openroads white 07' F430 with 2300 km's is going for $249,000(CDN) so I assume the OP's F430 will get around $200,000 as me&you suggested.
