Anyone know what the results of this straight line run would be,, From a 2nd gear 40 mph roll and a 3rd gear 60 mph roll.

I dont know but im willing to bet that i can take a 360 with my 997S if not then it will be very very close.

given the exact same driver, i think the 360 would win.

simple math

360 weighs slightly less and has more horsepower!

 

So do 355's yet a kill them.

 

Just to take this a step further, the 360 is lighter than the 355, and has more power. I do think the 997S would be a close match for the 360 up to 3rd gear, at which point the 360's closer gears would begin to tell. One thing I've noticed with Carreras and GT3s is their tall 3rd gear...

Not always...the F430 is dynoing as strong or stronger than claimed. The 360 may be overstated by 15 hp or so, but I believe it would be a good match to a 997S.

based on trap speeds, i would imagine it would be pretty even, with maybe a slight edge to the 997S, but im not sure with the 360 gearing. i think in the end, its going to come down to whos the better driver.

 

a stock 996TT would take a 360 no problem all the way to the top... and i know the 997S is just as fast as the 996TT up to 4th gear... in conclusion it should beat the 360 in the first 3 gears and even up until top speed... HP on a 360 is more like 365-375 Porsche horse power...

I had a lilttle run with a 996tt 2 nights ago, low gears it seemed the same, and even freeway we both punched it in 3rd and he had no pull (we cut it before getting in to higher speeds).
I have GIAC and Muffler bypass pipes which saved me 50+ pounds. I think i should be able to edge out a 360.

 

I just ran a 997S on PCH rolling from 2nd gear twice and both times pulled away slowly by about 3/4 of a car. I had my girlfriend with me and he had no passenger.

ps was considering buying a 997S until I drove the 360. Seat of pants 360 wins also.

 

The intensity factor is always going to favor the 360...better sound, shorter gears, better steering feel. The 997 makes a better daily driver, though, no question. Performance of the 997S and the 360 seem to be pretty close by most accounts.

I know what you mean, i have a 355 and it seems faster, that high revving v8 with short gearing is really fun, and the sound is intoxicating.. Are you in OC, maybe we can set somthing up.
