Had to put my dog to sleep today help finding a new one!

Well unfortunately early today I had to put my 8 year old Golden Retreiver Chelsea to sleep. She developed a case of megaesophagus, pretty much cant digest anything, fluid gets into her lungs, very messy. Anyways she was a great dog, but im asking the community of where to find another dog. I recently moved to south florida, and don't want to use one of these puppy stores.

Anyone know anything about Rottweiler, Lab, or Shepherds puppies available?

D Ran I feel sorry for your loss. There is a reason why a dog is a man's (? woman's) best friend. May her soul RIP.

Sorry to hear about Chelsea. About a year ago I put down my golden who was only 7yrs old. 2 months later I got myself a Rottweiler puppy and I am SSOO happy I did so. Stick with a Rotty. I used a breeder in upstate NY, let me know if you want to get his contact info. I just wanted to put in a great word for Rotty's. I have never had one before... always GSD'S or Goldens/labs.

Good Luck!

Sorry about your loss. It depends on what you are looking for, just a pet or something more. There is a good website I can send along for all breeds, but Rottweilers and GSDs are popular on there as it's for working dogs. But lots of "pet" dogs are there, from the same litter. Not less quailty just not for police dogs and you know you're getting a healthy dog as they linage check hips/temperments/health issues. Good Luck in your search!

thats my breeders email, tell him Craig from NY (with Buddha from his litter last winter) sent you. He will know who you are talking about. His dogs have AMAZING temperament! I am so happy with mine. A little expensive but well worth it!! Rottweiler.net is a good source of info. Let me know if you need any further help.

Sorry for your loss. I had a similar experience a couple years back and I hope you're doing OK.

If you are looking for another dog, may I suggest looking into adoption. There are a lot of abandoned pets throughout South Florida. My fiancee and I adopted two dogs (both the best mutts ever!) in the last 4 years, and we strongly recommend adoption as it benefits everyone involved: you get a great companion, the dog gets a great companion and a nice home and the shelter applies your adoption fee to help up keep the shelter.
This is a good starting point if you're interested in adoption:

Good luck!

RIP Chelsea and sorry for your lose. I would definitely recommend checking out a local shelter - I'm not a dog owner, yet, but I knew I wanted a certain breed cat (Russian Blue) but didn't care breed as much once we lucked out bringing our boy home after our visit on my partner's birthday.

Sorry to hear of your loss buddy.. I still have my 1st dog, a Boxer of 12+ years old.. I cannot imagine when he passes.. I used to be against the shelters for dogs because you really dont know what your going to get or if your getting someone else problem but i was wrong.. I found an abused pitbull that i adopted and he truthfully is best dog i have ever owed.. I feel bad to say that while i have a 12yo boxer still.. The most loyal animal i ever met.. I hope you find what your looking for.. It wont hurt to drop by a few shelters and see if any of them catch your eye or your heart.. Good luck!!

Mike
