If you aren't going to track every weekend and want massive torque for the highways - go 997 Turbo - and you can still track a few times a year.

Sorry! I don't get the R8 look I love the GT3, if you want the Wow factor! Why don't you get the 997 GT2 or the GT3 RS.

GT3 with out question, Porsche is revered as one of the best sports cars in the world and to own a 911 any type is almost every guys dream. The R8 will never have that status and probably in a couple of years people won’t even care about that car once the new factor wears thin. The R8 is a nice car but will never be a legend.

i am going to go out on a limb

i have a gt3 and i spent some time in an R8 yesterday - behind the wheel.

if you have no interest in track work, i think the R8 would be a great car.

i am not considerng resale values or the like.

I was blown away with its practicality. it is incredibly easy to steer, park, reverse etc...
the r tronic gearbox needs to be used to be believed. it is very special.
the car is incredibly balanced.

we have all read the reviews where tester after tester rates the R8 in sound, performance and handling and guess what - they are all right!

i wouldn't trade my GT3 for it but if i was buying again and i had no interest in any track work, i think i could go for the R8.

My perspective changed after i drove it.

IMHO, it sounds like this guy is getting both cars and trying to flip it and make a quick buck. He's trying to sell either or both cars without ever taking delivery of them.
