I just don't get the R8.

Acura did the NSX
Ferrari did the F430
Nissan did the 350 ZX

It copies elements of all these, and succeeds at none.

AWD and weight handicap the performance of the car, and the blades make it ugly (IMO).

I get the GT3. It will stand the test of time.

But it is your money, and that is the only opinion that really counts!

please look back through this thread and read the lap times i posted. its obviously not very handicapped in terms of performance. to be honest, im really not that fond of the R8, i believe the RS8 will be much more impressive...but im really tired of seeing people constantly negate this cars performance when 9 times out of 10 they have no idea what they are talking about. do a little research before you make false claims guys, it not that hard.

The C4S does a good job of keeping up with the R8, and the C4S is no GT3.

There is a guy around town who had a GT3RS black with orange.. just gorgeous.. and it seems that he traded it for a white R8.. The R8 is gorgeous but I just love Porsche .
I would ask him to chime in but i would assume he is not a member...

I still don't get the R8! It is not (very) original, nor best in class.

But if you like it buy it, that is all that matters. (Chevy sells a lot of cars too, but I wouldn't buy them either!).

Wow I just got back from dinner (late) I know and saw all these replies......thanks guys!

Seems overwhelming goes for the GT3 and that is what I'm leaning towards too. Let me tell you really quick what I drive right now and what I enjoy about these two cars:

e46 m3: I love the power and high revving engine combined with the luxury / 4-pass. ability fo the car. It's a good mix of a fun car to drive around town and also can do groceries or just a quick trip to the mall, pick someone up at the airport, etc....

s2000 supercharged: I love the go-kart handling and precise 6-speed shifter. The car is the perfect daily driver to work and it feels sooo connected to the road. It handles like it's on rails and just has great road feel and exhaust note with the supercharger whine. Space is limited and my race seats make getting in/out of the car a bit of a chore but overall you can't beat the price / fun factor!

Would you guys relate the GT3 to the s2000 and the R8 more to the m3? Is that a fair comparison?

btw I have an SUV for my daily chores so this "last" car is just a fun car for me....

Wasn't your GT3 June or July delivery?
Just pick up any car already. It seems like you've been debating over a P-Car, a Lambo, or now the R8 forever.

you should get the R8 over the GT3, if you just want a fun car get the R8 because you will not fully appreciate and use the potential of a GT3 if it doesnt see track days. I dont mean to offend anyone here, but that is the truth, the GT3 and RS are basically street legal track cars.

i have a s2k and an lotus. s2k does NOT handle like it's on rails, and i love my s2000. now if you strip the interior out and put moton jrz on it like krazik on s2ki, then yes, that's a big go kart when i had the fortunate opportunity to drive it at LS. and it is more fun than my RS, but we are now comparing a full tilt race car with a stock RS.
