verdict:

both are real sports cars, the Porsche to the extreme offering the best handling, better performance as you can see by the speeds achieved at the handling track and race track, it beats the Z06 easily also due to the semi-slicks that come as standard. Compared to the GT2 the Z06 is a bargain as it costs 100k less than the Porsche whcih also can be regarded as collector´s item as it will stay at that high price even as pre-owned car but not the Corvette.

 

keep in mind they're coming out with a more powerful Z06

 

No matter how fast the new blue devil (or whatever it`s called) will be, it will never be a Porsche GT2. Not even close

 

The price difference is not even close either




It's also important to note that the Z06 is getting somewhat slower times in this test compared to other magazine comparisons and that it comes with Goodyear F1 Supercar street tires instead of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup R-tires.

Usually the Z06 is quoted at <4 sec 0-100 km/h and about 12 seconds to 200 km/h.



That said the GT2 is clearly the more special, tactile, and superior car & the Z06 is the clear performance bargain.

 

I agree. What source did this information come from? Thank you for posting. But I doubt the GT2 will outperform the 650hp Corvette ZR-1 when it arrives, unfortunately.

Let's hope Porsche ups the game with the 998 GT2 or with their upcoming GT1...

Put the cars on IDENTICAL tires and then compare around a track. As far as straightline performance the z has run in the very high 10's with DR's. Has the GT2?

 

Yes i know,the Z06 is as it best in high 12sec to 200km/h. but in this test the cars were tested at the same time with the same conditions. And the GT2 was much faster. We will see better number from the gt2 as well. This is one first tests of the GT2, we have to wait an see.

 

who cares about 1/4 mile times. the GT2 wasnt built for that. If the Z is running sub 4's then GT2 with its launch control should be in the low 3's.

 

Yes, I understand your point. I'm not discounting the Porsche's speed, but I am just saying that it may be possible that the Z06 is a slower than average car since it is posting times that are pretty far off the norm for what the car usually posts in mag tests that I've seen.

12,8 (the number that ive seen the most) is not very far from 13,0.

I own several Porsches and like the looks of the vet's exterior, but look at those interiors. Any wonder the Porsche costs more?
