There are many threads about this already. Bottom line is they are just cast alloy wheels. So they are heavy. Go with a nice lightweight forged wheel.

Hre Cup

Try these 18" HRE Cup wheels which will shave 30 pounds of unsprung weight.
The gain on braking is incredible ! Of course it helps acceleration also but the braking is instantly noticeable. Makes the car feel lighter, more responsive, better feel of the tires. Steve

Hre Cup

Is this a new wheel from HRE? I have never seen these, they look great. Are they any lighter than their C series wheels?

The CUP wheel was designed for Porsche GT-3 Cup Cars. It's the lightest wheel they make. It was adapted for the GT-3 RS and is available through HRE. Ask for Guy, East coast sales. He has all the spec's and details. This is a rare wheel built on a custom order basis. Super strong and light, only in 18". You will lose a good part of the advantage with 19" anyway. I had their C-20's in 19" which are slighty heavier and I noticed the difference right away. Forget the stock wheels, I would never run them after using these wheels. I'm running 315's in the rear now in Corsa's. Helped gearing due to lower profile. Steve

yeah the Cup wheels are the lightest they make. Weren't they made for GMG? Anyway, don't forget the C20 series was replaced by the C90 series which is even lighter and stronger then the C20s.

We used the technology from the cup wheel to make the C90 series. The C93 is lighter than the cup wheel.

What is the pro/con of the forged vs. 3piece construction.

HRE C-90's

I have a set of C-90's on order waiting for inner front rim's. They're for my CLK-63 Black. That was my GT-3 RS in the HRE Booth at SEMA along with my CLK-63 Black. I sure like the 18" wheels over the 19's on the RS. The trend is bigger sizes for looks but performance is compromised. We walk a fine line on that point. My braking was so much better on 18" wheels. Easier to fit slicks for track events also. C-90's will be out as soon as all the 30 hole rim's arrive. It's an all new design with fewer bolts. HRE just keeps making improvements and more choices. They have a good design team, there always pushing the envelope in performance and strength. It's what I wanted them to do 8 years ago. No question they are cutting edge now ! Wheel selection is so important on a light car like the RS. Tires are another issue. They have varying weights between brands and sizes. Light tires like Michelin Cup's help. Steve

3 Piece V Forged

3 piece give you more rim size options.
Easier to repair bent rims. This is especially true with ultra low profile tires of today and road hazards. They are very light and strong but racing is hard on wheels. That's why race teams use them most of the time. Those are some big differences.

Well, all the good 3pc wheels are all forged anyway. I can't come up with many great reason a 3pc wheels are better then 1 peice besides like someone said, they can be fixed easier if you damage one. I just like the way they look better.
