Well, i wanted to start the car today but the battery went flat. Am i supposed to always connect the supplied charger, or only after battery goes flat?

What a freaking hassle to get it back charged-up. Do you know how to do it?
I made that mistake twice so I am an expert at it now. I hope your thin though.

I thought the GT's included an adapter for the connection in the glove box but my car didnt come with that either. I try to drive or at least start it every week. I also have a trickle type charger that connects to the battery directly.

You're going to laugh when you read the manual and find out how to get power to the car to activate the release for the engine compartment!

Thanks for that link Hovik. I was hoping that embarrasing thread died

Anyway Of course I left the key in the darn thing again and killed the battery. This has to be the only car in the world that you cant leave the key in the ignition overnight.

So yeah you have to be a very flexible dude and squeeze yourself completely under the steering wheel to connect another battery to a minuscule red tab that you cant really see. And god forbid if your battery terminal touches the surrounding electronics under there (which is very easy to do) your whole car will explode. (At least that was my thought)

FYI, you can get the exact same charger for cheaper from the Manufacturer Ctek, they now sell a plug to connect it to the cig lighter (it use to be that you could only get this plug by buy the PORSCHE unit)

Here is the connection:

the charger:

We have a Battery Tender in our garage that accepts 4 inputs....this runs out to all the cars in our garage. The hot rods we build we have a big industrial battery connector that we hook this up to.

http://www.hgmliftparts.com/default.asp?ID=30 (Not optimal for the porsche, but you get the gist)

Val, depending on how much your battery was discharged the small trickle charger to the glovebox may or may not work. That is why you may need a battery charger attatched to your battery. You cannot get to your battery without opening the electric lid. And your electric lid wont open with a dead battery.

Anyway my car did not include a trickle charger in the glove box so I had to open the lid and connect a battery charger to my battery using the red tab method under the dash.

POrsche should have a mechanical release for the lid as opposed to the electric method

100% agreed. The CGT is a technological marvel and yet ... no simple manual release cable for the rear deck lid?
