Unhappy My GT3 came in and the engine was DOA.

I ordered a Speed Yellow GT3 in April, trading in my '97 Twin Turbo. The car came in last week, however the engine casing was leaking oil. The car only had 8 miles on it and the dealer told me that the engine would have to be "replaced". This type of repair prior to delivery concerned me. Coupled with the fact that Porsche messed up several options on the car, I opted out of taking delivery.

After working with the dealer and Porsche all week we were able to get a replacement car moved up from 12 months to 5 months. It is frustrating seeing the first car sitting at the dealer waiting to be driven. I was told that there are no engines in inventory so I wonder how long that car will be sitting until the new engine arrives.

I hope that the next car arrives fine. It should...there are enough people watching this order. I though that Porsche ran a tigher ship than this.

IMO, this isn't the way Porsche usually operates. I've had numerous cars and every one of them, and especially my X50 TT, have been great cars. Every model has gotten better.

Trust me, a lot of others OEMs would have expected you to take delivery and promised a replacement engine. You'd be waiting a long time and eventually after a lot of disappointment and frustration it would either be fixed or you'd of sold the car

dealer

The dealer is in upstate NY. My guess is that the car will be sitting there a long time waiting for a motor. There are no "extras" laying around in Germany.

I see that there are other cars available, however none of these match my options. The other issue is that the dealer where I purchased the car from sold my trade-in. So it is not like I can easily take my money and go elsewhere.

mine had a transmission seal leak

Came into the dealership with a leaking transmission seal. It took PAG more than a week to get the replacement seal to the dealer. I then had the car for all of 4 days when the fuel pump failed. PAG misdiagnosed the problem, so another week and a half while they sent a new fuel tank (for the RS) and finally the right fuel pump. 1,000 miles later, all is going well.

Early production of a limited run vehicle will have glitches.

Resolution to my car

As an update on my car situation, the dealer and PNA really helped me out big time by finding an earlier allocation. So I should get the car before spring. It was far better than the originally estimated 18 months. The only set back is that I love the speed yellow color, but I changed the color of the new car. I am sure once the other car gets the new engine it will be sold. This is a small town and I don't want 2 of a kind around here! Karl

What GT3 production date is considered early production for the '04 MY GT3's???

Mine was born on 7/8/03...No problems so far. Is that early production???

When did the actual first production runs start for the GT3 MY '04 ???

I think initial production of US cars began in April but Euro cars were being built and delivered before then.
