CGT - PS2 poor performance?

Ive been to a track a couple of times now and im really not satisfied with tyre performance

Im running PS2, which i think were originally put on the car at the factory 3 years ago. Im running them 30 psi cold all round. At the track they go upto 40 psi.

I got a ride in am M3 with PS2 and they felt a lot better then mine. My Lotus is running Advan Neova AD07 and they are absolutely brilliant, with cold pressure set at 30 psi as well.

Whats the problem? Pressure? Age? Or PS2 is just not good enough for track work?

PS What are the sizes of BBS wheels for CGT?

i agree with you the ps2 are not sticky enough especially when cold. the only way to run cup tires is 18's. i heard they are developing the cup in 19 and 20's its on michelins web sight, but not in our specs yet.

Check the tires Porsche used on their record runs with Jay Leno. I suspect those are the best track tires you can get for the CGT.

Get some new wheels with MPSC tires, 265/35 18 and 345/35 18.

Yup, that's what I've seen CGT run.

No experience with CGT, but isnt 40 psi way too much? I have done two trackdays with my 996 GT2 on PS2 the last weeks, and normally end up 28/29 psi HOT front, and 30/31 psi HOT rear.

Owners manual says to start at 30 f/r cold. Perhaps too much for the track. My biggest complaint about the car is its inability to hook up in first, second and sometimes third.

I believe Sport Cups are available in 19's, considering the new Viper ACR runs them in 345/30/19 in the rear and 285/35/18 in the front... that might fit on a CGT with aftermarket wheels and keeping the staggered +1 front to rear layout.

Or Pirelli PZero Corsa's maybe? I don't know how they compare to the PS2's though.

Probably is, I would try to lower them a bit more and see if that helps!

Pirelli Corsas are also awesome tires for the trackdays!
