OMG! - Check this vid out of this RUF CTR3!
I like it but for 650K doesnt it look like a Cayman in the rear with a 911 front and a CGT like spoiler. I missed the mission statement for this car. I would love a scratch built RUF but I just dont understand the point. It is pretty but given the price point I missed it.

mission statement for the car... i think Ruf have wanted to build their own car from scratch for many years. but that's quite a daunting task to be sure, given their clientele. i believe the typical Ruf buyer would want a fully developed car with all the kinks worked out, all the luxuries intact, and would be less inclined to be extensively involved with the factory in working out the kinks, or putting up with teething problems. no offense of course to Ruf guys on this board who are more of the hardcore gearheads and willing to muck about under the hood (or bonnet)

so the CTR3 represents a stepping stone to an all-Ruf model, which I think is still under development.
so getting back to the mission statement thing... the car allows Ruf to offer the market a Ruf that is "not just another tuned 911". Gemballa and TechArt and Sportec and others all offer special 911's as fast if not faster than Ruf's current fastest cars. So there's a need to differentiate versus these.
9ff have the GT9 for instance, though i don't believe that's a direct competitor to the CTR3, as that car looks like it was designed more to break the Veyron's top speed record, than to be livable with on a daily basis. (the Chris Harris test drive video showed that while its fast, its hardly civilized!) I'd argue in fact that the GT9 is more of a marketing excercise, to build the 9ff brand.
i'm sure the CTR3 will have great all-round performance (acceleration, top-speed, handling,) with reliability and comfort, and even more exclusivity. i'm obviously a huge Ruf addict, though i can also easily see where one would balk at the price tag for this car, especially when the CGT is a completely bespoke design, with an all carbon tub, that glorious engine, and a guaranteed place in the Porsche and supercar hall-of-fame.

Hesperus Thanks That helps alot. I love RUF too and would love to have one before I make out the bucket list. Your explanation give me some insight to what they were thinking. Yes being able to buy that car certainly gives exclusivity I would never be able to have. I hope the customer got some insight to the development. I also wish RUF becomes fully successful in this too. I would love to see what they come up with in their fully independant step from Porsche. We all know that they have the talent.
No thanks!
If I need anything faster than a stock CGT, I will send my car out and have a twin turbo setup done to the CGT for less money.
I don't see a market for these cars, but I heard they have quite a few pre-sold so someone must want them. I have a feeling these cars won't hold their value too well, but time will tell.
