That's bull****, i can't believe they're charging $15,000 for paint to sample on the C-GT when it's only like $4900 for any of the 911 models. I wonder what their reason is for this, surely it isn't 3X as labor intensive to paint the C-GT...

What's so special about the floor mats that make them worth 5x what they charge for them in the other cars?

Who knows. Painting carbon has its challenges.

Exactly, they have to test and approve the color before hand. Think of it in relative terms, its only an additional 3.5%. I wonder how much Ferrari would charge fora paint to sample Enzo? Now I do think the charge on the brakes is outragous considering they are just brake calipers.

I dont see how those prices make sense but I guess they feel they can price it that way being the car is $450k.

Forget the paint to sample & calipers, look at the price of the seat belts - twice as much as a regular 996 for 2 less belts. And the thicker wheel - it's a 996 wheel to begin with and still costs twice as much. Hey, just more money to lose when you buy a CGT!

Hopefully for that price they'll actually put some care into the paint and remove the orange peel

The same company that is doing the CF panels for the Enzo are also doing the CF panels for the CGT. Also remember that PAG is not doing the paint work on the panels, this is also being done by the mfg (same as the Enzo). There is also a lot more prep work involved in painting carbon fiber than there is sheet metal.

cf is a ***** to paint. viods appear on the surface of the laminate and you have to manually fill them in. the goal is to not have any but sometimes it doens't work out that way. plus, you have to sand the entire car before painting it. it doesn't come out of the mold and go straight into the paint booth. in order for the paint to properly bond to the surface it must be perfectly sanded until the water doesnt beed off.
