New guy with Q about rear seats in 2004 GT3

Hi all,
This is my first post here. I am a 20+ year Porsche owner, and currently own a 1997 C2S and a 1971 911 RS clone. I am thinking about trading in my C2S for a 2004 GT3 but lack of rear seats may be problematic in shuttling around kids. My question is this: Is it possible to install seat/shoulder belts in the rear squabs? I would expect the bolt mounts would be under the carpet, but don't know for sure. Anybody know?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Someone did it on a 997 GT3 and posted a tread with pics but be careful with your insurance.

Everything's there for an "aftermarket" install. Don't know about here, but search over on Rennlist for a complete discussion, and, I think, instructions are there, too.

I echo the above comment. Any accident that causes injuries to occupants of the rear seats may not be covered by your insurance. You should check with them. Perhaps, dealer-installed units might alleviate that issue.

Thanks for your replies. After digging a bit deeper, I was able to locate a thread that showed me it COULD be done. I need to check with the insurance co, though...

Interesting. I called my insurance co. today and they list the GT3 as a coupe, hardtop, 6 cylinder. No notation on seats. The rep stated no insurance worries with putting kids in the back. FWIW: the rep was an enthusiast and knew immediately what 'rear seat delete' meant. USAA is my company, BTW. I just may come into the fold...

One way of ensuring coverage is to list the additional equipment on your policy. I'm also with USAA, and have my RS cf wing blade listed since it would be expensive to replace.

I did similarly with my (since sold) 400 hp RX-7. I added all the mod'd parts (as durability and/or safety enhancements) to the policy. Didn't increase my premium, and helped me get comparable parts when I did have an accident.

Thanks, LTC. I will include the seats as add ons with USAA.

even if you install the seats, the kids may not like the stiff suspension. Your current 993 feels like a Lexus to them in comparison.

I don't think they'll complain. My C2S has PSS9s set at full stiff, RS sways and monoballs. At worst it will be a lateral move.
