GT3 exhaust plug help
GT3 exhaust plug help
Earlier this week I had a car detail where they wiped the interior engine compartment, after this I noticed the exhaust was running load as it would if the exhaust plug mod were done. I have looked to see if the plug is in place and it appears to be. Never having looked too closely before at the passenger side of the engine compartment, I noticed the grey box where the plug attaches to the side of has a 3/4" open steel tube facing downward, beneith it. The tube looks like it should have a hose connected to it but I see no evidence of a hose.
Am I missing a hose? Any other ideas? First pic is for perspective:

Close up of the red diagrammed box above, just behind the two radiator hoses is a rectangular grey solenoid box where the electrical exhaust switch plugs into the side and 2 rubber hoses plugs into above, note the steel nub at the bottom (below the arrow), is that an air intake or is a nubb missing a hose?

BTW, it is a MY07 GT3 with Cargraphic 5 exhaust, if anyone has an other ideas.....

Just looked at mine ( '08) and it looks the same as yours. The small silver fitting at the bottom of the plastic box does NOT have a hose or anything connected to it.
Hope that helps.

thanks, I guess its more than a hose. Anyone know if there is a fuse for the exhaust flappers? There is not one labeled in the footwell fuse box labeling sheet that could see.
Mine neither, nothing connected to that port.
Instead of keeping both valves open by disconnecting the solenoid, try disconnecting just one valve by disconnecting the vacuum line and shutting it closed. Takes five minutes and the result sounds much better in my opinion between 2 & 3K.

disconnecting vacuum lines
ze_shark,
Can you post pictures or exactly what you are describing? I also would like to have the 1st valve stay open all the time (w/o depending on the sport button), but find having both open at low RPM to cause a bit too much drone.
Thanks!

I think zeshark means disconnect one of the hoses in the solenoid picture above and then cap the holes it creates by disconnecting them.
Thanks Dr. Peter -- any idea which hose goes to which solenoid?
And what are you using to cap the two open ends? Is there a specific vacuum line plug, and if so, do you know what size is required?
Thanks!
