GT2 to the second power modifications.
GT2 to the second power modifications.
Now that we have two GT2s I wanted to share with other owners what we have done to each car and how we are comparing modifications so as to get a true picture of what works and how well it works. Following is a list of what has been done so far. We will try to keep the list updated as more results are processed.
Red GT2:
1. GMG Sway Bars. Stock bars work well but GMG bars add much needed control of can in mid corner. The GMG bars allow car to be driven with front end push eliminated and to keep rear end planted without danger of oversteer. I am able to turn off Stability and Traction Control which allows car to exit corners faster. Under high G’s Stability and Traction Control will activated rear brakes when not needed in corners. Rear bars are set full stiff and front bars at middle position. When extra turn in is needed I tighten up front bar as needed.
2. The stock suspension has been removed and replaced with Oakley Design 4 Way Titanium Suspension. The 4 Way Titanium Suspension performs just like Jon Oakley said it would on the GT2. We know that lap times are faster in the Red GT2 than in the stock suspension White GT2. The White GT2 has the GMG Sway Bars also. When tuned for street driving the 4 Way Titanium Suspension rides better than the stock White GT2.
3. We put Oakley Design Silicon Boost Pipes on the Red GT2. This allows the Red GT2 to reach max PSI of boost faster and maintain max PSI of boost longer than the stock White GT2. A must for track driving also.
4. We have Sharkwerks Brembo replacement steel rotors on the Red GT2 at present. The use the stock calibers with stock pads. On the track they are better than the stock PCCB rotors. We will try Oakley Design 400mm, 8Pot: Steel rotor kits when available. This should be the ultimate package.
5. We have the Oakley Design Carbon Fibre Front Lip Spoiler waiting to be covered in Paint Protection Film. We will put these on both cars.
6. We will install Oakley Design Mesh Grill Kits as soon as the arrive.
7. We use Pro-Tint out of Kannapolis, NC to apply Paint Protection Film and Racing Optics Windsheield rip-offs. The Windshield rip-offs are great for track work.
8. We are using Hoosiers on both cars for track work.

Very good question, one that we didn't ask at first. PASM is totally removed. Connectors to factory PASM are sealed and tied off out of the way. Dealer then goes into computer and removes the PASM option. The PASM module is then removed from the car. TC and SC work the same. Once you gain confidence in the ability of the system you will turn TC and SC off. You will be amazed at the speed you gain.
I have spent the pass two days dialing in the settings of the Oakley Design 4 Way Titanium Suspension to provide a controlled street ride that is softer than the PASM ride. My "Butt" says that I have found the best settings. The Red GT2 is now the better riding street car as well as faster track car than the stock White GT2(except for GMG bars).

Thanks, that is great way of turning off the PASM system while being able to turn off TC & SC.
I had purchased the Cargraphic PASM bypass circuits...costly method!!
We have to meet at the track some day and compare set-ups.

Went with the Cargraphic Bilstein DA race damper which they use in the Tuner shootouts.
On bumpy roads it's jarring..not fun but overall it's a great system.
The Oakley suspension can be set soft for street use and still beat factory set up on the track?

“Z06”, we have a 2007 Z06 that is track prepared also.
“OmahaGT”, yes the Oakley Design 4 Way Titanium Suspension rides better than the stock GT2 suspension on the street and is very close to a 997 Cup car when set for the track. The adjustments are very easy to make.
