porsche designers getting really lazy.

Doesn't bother me. All the 911 variants look the same to me. As others have said, buy the GT3 for the engine and take it to the track. Otherwise, for street use only, it's better to just own a plain 997 or if you need to spend money, get a Turbo. These cars definitely don't appreciate, based on all the numbers out there today.

can we just have the front end of the 997 Mk1 with the rear LED lights of the Mk.2 and the tail decklid/wing of the .1RS?

I agree here. Of course the overall GT3 experience is far different from that of the standard Carrera, but that to me is not enough....the car should be physically differentiated... and the latest car doesnt quite have it (for me anyway, but I am a bit biased )....

I am sure that you can change the nose and tail.
