Cool RS Carbon Fiber Wing

I really like the carbon fiber GT3 RS wing that replaces the standard wing on my 996 GT3. Will the larger RS wing give any performance benefits? Has anyone made this change to their GT3?

You can put a 997GT3RS CF wing on the 997 GT3 but you must change the decklid shock. It requires different shocks.
Now to put one on the 996GT3 I am not sure if it's a direct bolt on transfer.
The wing from the 996GT3RS will work.

I've been looking into the same thing. I think the RS carbon fiber would look great atop my 2004 GT3 OEM decklid. I would assume there would be greater down force, but don't know. Certainly looking forward to what you find out. I did find a vendor in Japan that sells the bolt on RS wing, but curious as to whether they can be trusted. Does anyone know anything about RevoZport, can they be trusted? They have a lot of reasonably priced carbon parts for the 996 and 997.

the OEM CF RS wing is a direct bolt on for the 996 GT3...there are also 4 degree and 8 degree shims (very inexpensive) that you can put in to hold the angle...it will provide more rear downforce but you should use the front cup splitter to balance out...the replica wings do not come with the proper downstruts attached to the wing so guys that have done that have been forced to drill out the rivets holding the stock wing supports and trying to attach them to the replica wing...I wouldn't trust that at high speed and and it leaves you with a useless stock wing ...I'll let someone who knows comment on the 997 and 997 RS wing...I don't know if it is as easy as the 996 conversion...

It must not be too difficult of a change, it seems there are a ton of people that have made this switch. Besides Revsport, I don't even know where to find them.

Yes it can be custom made and has been done many times before.

You need to go with a reputable company in the USA.

PM me and I can put you in contact with THE BEST, and im pretty sure the race cars this company makes carbon wings for handle more downforce than anything we can subject them too!!

Making good wings is an art.

Go to Vivid Racing. They show one by Ruf, but it is very expensive. They also show one by MA Shaw, but you must purchase the decklid as well. I've also found some on the internet/ebay, and they are from unknown foreign suppliers. Any direction others want to provide would be greatly appreciated. And any info concerning the benefits. I would also like to know if the OEM lip is sufficient for the track, or is the Cup lip a must.

Here is the MAShaw wing with Mr Shaw himself - http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/m...5-p-53221.html

We just did one of these wings on a Turbo Customer car too -

Will the MA Shaw wing bolt directly to the OEM decklid? If so, can it be secured separately, without the MA Shaw decklid? I know I'm asking a lot, but I would like a bolt on application vs. a project that includes painting. Is this feasible?

It is a complete 1 piece decklid and wing replacement. Everything on the underside will bolt on and fit the same too. All you do is have it painted

Is the wing adjustable? For proper track handling and balance, will the OEM lip suffice, or would you recommend the Cup splitter? Maybe SpeedYellow4 and I can create a group purchase. I feel like I've dominated his post, and I apologize for that.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your support.

The wing is a fixed carbon fiber blade. I dont think you need it to be adjustable at a DE level. The OEM lip will suffice.

I found my 6 GT3 to be more stable through fast turns with the RS wing and 4 degree shims, but you give up a few mph down the long straights. I didn't use a Cup splitter and stayed with the stock one with no problems. Chuck is right about using caution when buying the replicas without the mounts attached. Also, there's not much point in getting one that's not adjustable IMO. Recently sold my car and the RS wing is still available. OEM CF part in excellent condition. Asking $2,600. Local SF Bay area buyer preferred. (It's one of the few parts that hasn't been going down in value.)

Since this is SpeedYellow4's post, I'll give him first shot at it. If he does not wish to purchase, would you consider shipping to Oklahoma City 73162? And, to clarify, since yours is an OEM part, it will bolt directly to my existing decklid?

Thanks for your input. I look forward to hearing back from you.

SpeedYellow4, please let me know if you want, as I don't want to violate proper etiquette here. And again, sorry for dominating your post.
