Best way to verify usage claims?
Looking at picking up a used GT3. What is your best advice on verifying claims such as "never tracked", "proper break in done", etc etc. A lot of GT3's on the market with "low miles" but if abusive miles, reasonable price becomes over priced based upon having to fix issues after purchase.

If you are buying private party a discussion with the owner will also be helpful.

I don't know why people are so afraid of 3's that have been tracked...the car is meant for the track..mine loves it and gets a lot better maintenance and service than a non tracked car...I would much rather have a 3 that has been driven like it was meant to be than a garage queen that has rotting seals and has spent most of it's time in stop and go traffic...JMHO

My car was tracked and tracked often. It had ceramic brakes. The PPI showed 90% brake pads, the DME (twice) showed 0s in all six ranges. The owner held NASA records at Button Willow in a M3.
What you want is a car that isn't abused. The PPI will tell you one thing the condition of the car (in my case perfect inside and out) the other. Always buy condition.

Yes I track my car, why own a GT3 if you don't? Having said that my girlfriend would give her right tit to be cared for as well as my car. Like Chuck said most track guys really pamper their cars.

Often, you can tell if a 3 has been tracked by looking at the calipers color. If there is some fade in the color, it was probably tracked. I agree that tracking a GT3 is no big deal, but keep in mind that wear on the entire car is exponential with how aggressively the car was driven. There is a huge difference between a slow beginner group and advanced groups.

All good replies, thanks. Not worried about a tracked car at all... my previous was and I was up front about it with the buyer. He still calls me to thank me for selling it to him
Seems like recommendations are summed up to "do the homework"....1) maintenance history / records and 2) current condition (PPI, DME).
Thanks again.
