Deciding On a New 2011 GT3 RS....

Hey guys! I haven't posted much, but I have been reading posts on here for a little while now. I have decided on getting a 2011 GT3 RS and have ideas and questions that need sage advice.

Well, I have decided on grey black with red accents. But, I would want the side view mirrors in grey black and the wheels black. Would this turn out okay?

I will also get PCCBs and the front axle lift (my driveway is kind of steep). I have read about wrapping the car before I drive it. Would you advise on anything else? Anything you wish you had done? Also, I only test drove the GT3. Does the RS have a similar feel? Thanks a lot.

RS is better. I have the same car with everything but PCCB's. It's better to get the red brakes. Easier to track and replace than the risk of the ceramics. New brakes with aluminum centers are light. I have clear as well. Color change will look great too. Seems many people are doing that, and most combos are turning out great. Crud, buy mine. Trying to sell anyway for my 2 RS coming. Axle lift is a must.

Thanks for the advice guys. I will only track the car about 2 times a year max. The RS will be my daily driver and since it will be my daily driver, I need to know, is the RS reliable? Is it somewhat reliable like a turbo? Thanks. again.

Very reliable, like any other Porsche or more so. It blows a big cloud of blue smoke every 10th start or so, but it's supposed to. The LWFW will rattle like crazy, but it is supposed to.

I can't picture the grey wheels and mirrors. Would you keep the decals? If not all that is red is the front (I personally hate and wrapped over it) and the rear wing tips.
If you go black, go all black, I think Fred had it perfect with the flat grey with black accents.

PCCB, don't have much advantage for the $$, just a bit less unsprung weight, but the steel brakes are as good. The car is too loud for the ****ty radio, but also for the upgraded, just OK radio, so I would skip it.

Adding full alcantera and some alcantera bits dress up the interior a bit for daily driving. Thicker steering wheel is nice unless you have small hands. Painted nipples, make the only chrome on the car go away and only $200+.

You can go nuts with interior, but IMHO it does not belong in RS.

Mine is my daily driver and I only have thicker steering wheel and painted nipples as option, I like the spartan setup of the RS, like the door pulls.

I regret getting the floor mats, You get holes in your carpet and I prefer the steel aftermarket "mats", but I think that is std on 2011.

I'd skip on Navi, Sport Chrono, fake carbon stuff, all make the car less desirable me thinks. If you are going to paint anything, do it aftermarket, cheaper and you can change you mind. But I'm a trackjunkie and specced it for the track mostly..

Wow, thanks TRAKCAR for all that advice. Great to hear that it's reliable. Sometimes I get the Ferrari or Lambo itch but this should help. Well, I wouldn't have grey wheels, but black wheels instead. Would that go well with the Grey Black exterior? I'm not sure of this?
I will keep the decals, but I don't like the red in front as well. I'm not the biggest fan of the side view mirrors in red.

For options I'll just get the thicker wheel like you mentioned and one piece of carbon fiber (rear center console). I'll definitely skip the Nav and SC. Where exactly is the chrome part on the car? I guess I missed it. Thanks again.

The chrome nipples are the headlight washers. The standard GT2 seats in the RS are great on the track and good for short trips around town but MAY be a little uncomfortable for long trips in a Daily Driver? Have you sat in them yet?I personally like the thin wheel as I think I feel it better with gloves on.

The RS is a great car and you won't be disappointed.

Oh, that's where the chrome part is. Thanks. I actually love the sport bucket seats and find them comfortable.

The brakes debate is the toughest choice for me... There are clearly two sides who swear by each?

I know. I've read the other threads and can't come to a conclusion. If money wasn't a factor would you get PCCBs?

I think if you primarily drive on the street the PCCB are a better choice; low noise, low dust, and long wear. If you track more than say ten days a year then steel brakes make the most sense. I also hear Brembro is going to build steel rotors to fit PCCB with centerlocks soon and use the yellow calipers (10/2010?). I'll likely buy a set when they come available.
