M3 to GT-3? is infamous around these parts
Price Recommendation (Buying)

Gentlemen:

After lots of patience, I believe a potential vehicle could be in my future. However, I am not as well versed as most on what I should offer and since this is a BIG (for me) purchase, I want to make the best possible deal. Any advice or recommendations on an offer / tactics would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the invoice / specs from the dealer sheet:

07 GT3 in White / Black Leather Seats

1,500 miles

Bi-Xenons
Sound Package Plus
PCM
PCCB
Chrono
Couple interior options such as door finishers, extinguisher, etc.

Car was $122k new. Still under warranty through next summer, so I could CPO it.

Thanks in advance.

assuming car has no issues.
walk in, put money on the table. no small talk, waste of time.
offer 80k and bottom line 90k (that's pretty high up)
if you hear NO, leave.
there are a LOT of 997gt3 out there.
dont worry about miles. 1500 mile cars are no better than 15,000 miles car if well cared for.

give you some reference, the 997.2RS on my avatar.
i will let you drive it home for $135,000, seriously. no accident, 3000 miles, all stock. zero option
msrp has no bearing on porsche resale for the most part.
and if i am telling your my RS can be yours for 135k, then how much will you pay for the 07GT3?

Thanks for your input. What they offered it to me for was a grand less than their now online asking price. It had just come in to the dealership and not gone over / priced.

Anyone else able to weigh in? I'd appreciate it.

I agree with Mooty. 80k would be a good price and 90k would be high. FWIW I bought my '07 (10k miles with few options, no PCCB, and CPO) one year ago for 82.5k. More depreciation has set in since then.

I agree with mooty
although I would not likely exceed $85K
If it meets your crieteria and is local then that is worth something in that you do nto have to hassle with out of town buying and shipping...

How much are they asking for it?

Offer $80K and be done with it. Show them you are serious. And not there to dick around on price.

Thanks.

That was my thought as well, although I was going to try to get them to CPO it at $80k.

Get the CPO for sure.... good insurance for yourself, or future re-sale.

If you can get it for between 80-85K including CPO, go for it !

Good luck,

I'm thinking I got screwed now on my deal!

I got a CPO 2009 Carrera 3.6L with PDK, 8700mi when I took it home... the sticker was $92,000.... I bought it for $71,000 and thought I did good.

Did I?

For $9,000 more... even if it 2 years older for a 2007, but 1500mi???

$80K.... I'd have jumped at that in a heart beat.... but I'm also, I know this wrong for car buying... I'm an admitted IMPULSE BUYER! A car payment difference of $100 bucks one way or the other isn't going to bother me... I've spent more than $1200 bucks for a single dinner before... but $200-400 bucks a month, yeah, that's important to me...

Not trying to hijack this thread... but did I do "okay" or "reasonable" at $71,000 for my '09 Carrera?

$80K for the 07 GT3 with 1500... like I said, I'd trade my '09 in and take the diff in heart beat.

$86k is a reasonable "asking" price from a dealer, as long as there are no "stories" behind this car. Remember: it's a buyer's market out there, so don't be bashful in making an offer.

Mark, you did ok. We should start a support group for us "impulse buyers".

As far as the 07 GT 3, get the car and be done with it. Then you can join our support group.

I just bought a virtually brand new 2007 GT3 with 5,100 miles on it. Asking price was $90K, I offered $80K. We eventually settled on $83K. I think $80-$85K is a fair price to pay for what sounds like a excellent car. Don't beat yourself up waiting to find "a deal". Make a fair offer and start driving one the finest cars on the planet. You won't regret it.

80-85k is right.. only because of the miles otherwise you could get it for 80k for sure.. Good luck..
