Gt3 winter driving

The first big N. Cali storm of the season got me thinking. I can do my regular 50 mile mountain blast almost all winter but not on MPSC's. Even if I shoot for the sunny day driving only, the north canyons stay wet all winter and some even have stretches of running water, not what you want to see on cold MPSC's.

Having bought 3 sets of tires this year for various cars I would like to find something moderate in price, good in wet and still decent in dry to use until spring. Someone recommended Nitto invo's or Hankook Ventus V12 Evo.
Anyone with experience of either of these or other ideas?
thanks

ps, for clarification, not talking snow or freezing temps as both are rare and can be avoided

bridgestone re-11's. great combo tire and well priced. i have used in moderate/heavy rain on freeway at over 70 mph and did not have to slow down, unlike the mpsc's, which were scary in similar situations.

I have the Hankooks and they're a great tire for the price, and good in the wet. Just not as much grip as many other top-of-the-line tires, but they're much cheaper too.

+1 for Re-11's. Had them on my last vehicle which saw a lot of driving in the wet and even a snow storm. Granted they sucked in the snow, but that's what happens when you try to use summer tires in the snow

So have either of you guys used the re-11 on a gt3?
What I am hoping to avoid is getting a tire that doesn't have sufficient sidewall support to handle the 3 chasis dynamics.

I believe 10GT3 has them on his car now as I've seen him post about them in similar threads, but to answer your question no I personally have not used them on my 3, but many people have and when my MPSC's are gone the RE'11's will definitely be on the list of tires to look at replacing them with.

I run RE-11 tires. IMO best non R compound street tire you can buy. I have never driven in the rain with them, but they are better than the PS2 or anything else I have driven on, at least in terms of dry performance, I know some people use them on the track as well, I plan to. Great bang for the buck ...was around $340 a rear and $260 a front. Using stock tire size.

If you plan on driving in temperatures below 40F or 45F, forget about any summer tires. You should be thinking in terms of real winter tires. For the record, I use Pirelli Sottozero 240 Serie II on 19" wheels for winter driving. I don't drive when there's snow or ice on the roads (I take my other car), but they work well on dry, cold pavement.

I have the Nitto Invos on my turbo, just recently got them and i am really happy with them. They are much better in wet than what my Conti's were and I would recommend them especially at their selling price

DD GT3, thanks for the confirmation.

Jake, our winters are generally pretty mild but I have driven just fine anywhere in the 40's, with care, and even high 30's. I think knowing the roads saves problems as you know where the cold canyons are and where the water is standing and proceed accordingly.

Luis, I have a great 4x4 truck for bad days, but cant stand to leave the fun toys in the garage all winter

Do you have to get new, narrower rims to fit winter tires? And if so, any issues with spacers etc? Are there any winter tires available for the original rims? Couldnt find any proper answers on the forums...

If we are talking about the 997 GT3, the main issue is with the rear rims because the recommended winter tire size is 295/30/19 vs 305/30/19 for summer tires. The 295's generally need a narrower rim, typically 11" whereas the stock rim is 12". I don't know of a winter tire in 305/30/19. The Tire Rack Web site doesn't show anything in that size.
