Anyone pulling an enclosed Trailex with a Range Rover?
I want to start trailering my GT3 to track events and am considering an enclosed Trailex sports car trailer. My only concern is that my tow vehicle, 2005 Range Rover HSE, won't be up to the task. I think the loaded trailer would be approx 5,000 - 5,500 pounds. Although the tow capacity of the RR is rated at 7,700 pounds, I have read here and elsewhere that the ratings can be misleading (climbing hills, hard braking, etc). I have never pulled a trailer before, so I would appreciate any comments from anyone with trailering experience or especially anyone who has used this setup. Thanks.

i will pull ok.
uphill is slow
down short hill ok, long hill, it will push you. brake may overheat.
but the worst thing is if a big semi goes by you at speed, you might get scared and pee in your pants. no, seriously.
i towed with pepper GTS before.
after one trip, i bought a 2500HD GMC.
ti's the wheel base that matters.
with the GMC, i now tow a 12,000 trailer (you will start to bring things that you never think you need to track with you, TRUST me. so the bottom line is you can NEVER have enough towing power.
granted i was towing a 7000 lbs trailer (pepper can tow 7700, supposedly).
trailer enclosed is the lightest there is and very high quality. try towing it a few times and see how you like it. if anything, it's the tow rig you need to change not the trailer.

Agreed. GM 2500HD is THE tow vehicle. Worth every penny. I cant comment on the RR, but if this is a regular occasion (towing the GT3) I would spend the money on the proper tow vehicle...

It will handle it, but reaching capacity and the hills/mountains might not be your friends.
Grabbing a F350/3500 would be your best bet. I have a F350 I am looking to move (price is right), PM me if interested.

Thanks for all the responses and the great information. I will take a shot with the Range Rover next year and see how it goes. I only plan on trailering approx 5 trips per year, so it is very convenient not to have a dedicated tow vehicle.

I don't like going to the grocery store in my RR. I'm scared the extra weight from the eggs and milk may cause another one of the regular over $3k shop visits.

I towed an enclosed trailer with a Yukon a few times. Then a buddy had a trailer sway so badly in cross winds it flipped his sport ute over and rubbed half of his face off on the interstate. That week I bought an F-350 dually diesel. Don't screw with your safety it is just not worth it!

I could be wrong but I think a Rover is a lot heavier than a Yukon.
But, I have a 2008 HSE and an open trailer and there is no way I would pull my car on that trailer with the Rover if I had a choice.
No power and brakes are crap.
I pull mine with a F-350 dually and you can't even tell the car is back there.
