GT3-RS.1 carbon roof

This weekend ksbenz and I took his beautiful new GT3-RS to a good friend of mine in Orlando who does wraps/clear bra installs for Ferrari/Porsche and Lamborghini of Orlando.

I'll let the owner do the rest of the talking but 2 1/2 hours later, the RS was now sporting a carbon roof!

I really don't understand why Porsche doesn't offer a real CF roof option like BMW does for their M3. Imagine the ridiculous amount of money they could make as I'm sure it'd be an option that commands a huge premium price over the regular metal roof. They're missing out on quite a few extra $'s as I see this would be a very popular checkmark in the option box, much like the Sports Chrono option, almost everyone would probably opt for it.

BTW, looks great!

Dave, very nice. Can you post a couple more pics of the overall car with the carbon roof in view. By what I can see your car appears to be an Arctic Silver/Orange as I have. Not many of those around and I am interested in doing the same to mine.

I covered the back of my fiberglass sport seats with the carbon wrap but since it's a 'flat' finish I was concerned doing the roof will look odd blending to the gloss finish on the carbon wing. What's you opinion?

The carbon finish is not matte but has a sheen to it.Obviously not like the rear spoiler which is very glossy. However there is now a clear wrap product that when applied makes the stock paint look matte. We tried a piece of this on the spoiler and it takes the c/f high gloss finish almost down to a match for the roof.

I may therefore have the spoiler wrapped in this when I return the car to have the front of the rear arches and rockers clear wrapped.

Tim, yes my car is Arctic silver and orange with PCCB. I understand that this is the rarest color combo on this model.

Picked it up with 850 original miles.

Saweet! Yes, 2008 only saw five units in the states with that color.

...I may therefore have the spoiler wrapped...
Keith, are you saying that the contrast is significantly noticable.

Tim

Yes it is quite different as the spolier is very shiney due to the clearcoat whilst the roof is CF vinyl. I spoke to a high end bodyshop and they said they could clearcoat the roof to give it that depth. However I like the look as it is and would simply wrap the spoilerif I wanted it to match.

I feel that you can get away with almost anything on the RS, I mean the yellow calipers hardly blends with the orange wheels!

BTW do you happen to know how many came in this color in 2007?

Awesome, according to that, Canada is now part of the USA. Who knew they'd beat Puerto Rico to being our 51st state

They had done a roof on an older M3 with a sunroof and it looked great.
