GT3 questions
Hi members. I'm looking at a 997.2 gt3 and have questions regarding this. Any info is appreciated!
1. Found a 2010 with 8000 miles on it. The sticker was $137k. What is a fair price to pay for this today?
2. What type of inspection should I perform and is there anything specific I should look out for?
3. Can I get an extended warranty or CPO even if the car was not sold by a Porsche dealer?
4. What are the thoughts on the sport buckets? Are they comfortable? Car will not be a daily driver.
5. Any known issues wi the front axle lift?
Thanks!

1. Sounds like a price of 100 or so is your target.
2. & 3. Have Porsche dealer do PPI including body panel inspections and if they "play ball", there is a way for CPO. Probably talk to the service manager in person.
4. If they fit your body type they will be fine.
5. I can't help on this one...

I'm going through the same issue at the moment. Purchasing a GT3/GT3 rs. I say for this car at a dealership should be around $108-110,000. Private party you can get them as low as 100K. I love it when people low ball #'s, but reality is a different story.
Get PPI and DME read-out.
I hope this helps

Sorry...forgot. The seats is a personal thing. I am getting the bucket seats and they are comfortable to me. I'm not a big guy, so this might make a difference. No problems with front lift that I know of just yet. It's a must with these cars. I'm looking for one that has the lift, for sure.

I am a Porsche Dealer on the West Coast in St. Pete, FL.
First if you are buying the car from a Non-Porsche Dealer you can not get the Factory CPO warranty. That warranty is available on that model but only from a Porsche Dealer.
For this car you would spend 100 to 110, but I think it from a off brand dealer or used car dealer might be closer to 100.
You should have the car brought to a Porsche Dealer to have it inspected before you purchase it. It is a must. See if it has been in an accident, or tracked.
The Sports seats are great but adjustment is only forward and back. Also a little tough to get in and out. As you stated you are not going to drive it everyday so you should be fine. They are comfortable after you get into them. I am 6'4" and they are fine for me.
There are no issues with the front axle lifts from what we have seen.
Any other questions you are happy to call me direct on my cell 727-741-3433. David Wilson

Thank you everyone for the responses. Very helpful. I called my local Porsche dealer (Champion) and they said they could do the inspection but its not a body panel inspection. I don't think it would be hard for them to notice if the car has been wrecked or painted so I will push for that. They also confirmed the CPO has to be from a Porsche dealer purchased used vehicle. Anyways, the car I'm looking at looks very clean so I'm going to do my homework and see if it checks out.
Thanks!

Yes typically the dealerr will not check the paint thickness and yes they can determine whether or not the car has had any structural damage, however cosmetic cover ups are not easily identified. As everyone else has recommended, DME and PPI is a must, paint check preferred, and most importantly which was not mentioned, go with you gut feeling!
Good luck.

Agree with the above post. Go with your gut feeling, but always do your homework.
I almost purchased a pre-owned GT3 with only 3000 miles, and when the dealer was replacing the windshield, they realized the car had clear coat added to the top of the car. (Also, DME appeared to be good) I asked them to look at the car carefully and they noticed other touch up done to the car. Nothing too big, but went with my gut feeling and I refused to buy the car.
