Chris,
Everyone here has spoke of the HANS device. I have been looking at the ISAAC. I like the design of it better than the HANS device. Time (Colorchange) uses it already. If you find it is what you want to do, let's see if we can get a two purchase discount.

Here is the ISAAC:

Here is the HANS:

Yes I am looking at the isaac too. The one big advantage of the hans, imo is the fact that it attaches the helmet to the body and the isaac is attached to the harnesses. If I need to get out quickly, I would prefer not having to detach my head from the harnesses. Also Hans is used by all the major racing classes...ie Nascar, Indy, F1, ALMS, ect. Yes it considerably more expensive than the isaac, but I look at it this way...If I can spend $4,500 on an exhaust, it's seems pretty ridiculous to not consider spending at least that on the best safety equip that gives you the best chances of survival in a crash...

Stand 21 F21 helmet $1,200
Hans 1,200
6 point harness $400
3 layer nomex suit $500-$700

$3,500 total for the best in protection...

Watt,
Does Stand21 have a US website? Where did you get yours? Which model do you have?
Best,
Ken

I'm not watt, but I don't think they have a US site to buy from...only various distributors...I think you can measure your head, buy the helmet based on that and purchase the custom fitting inserts to dial in the fit...From what I understand, if you use a single layer nomex balakava you add 1/4" to the total measurement, 1/2" if it's a 3 layer nomex head sock....I really need to find a dealer w/in driving distance < 5hrs unless I find a dealer that has a return policy if the helemt does not fit properly or is uncomfortable...

Nice KPV, I will have to wait until I get home to view. Apparently websense software does not feel that racing supply stores are work related...To me it is....If I'm injured because I was not protected properly, how am I suppose to work???

FineProperty is infamous around these parts
It looks as though you can just pull the cables on either side of the helmet to release it from the Issac. Looks like it could be tough to climb out a window with a Hans on.

Of course, I just race karts, when you crash bad you're tossed out of the seat without any effort (no roll bar, seat belt, or hans).

Actually, there are three types of release pins with the Isaac. You have a choice as to which one you want included.

The first one you need to pull the ring to release the detent ball.

The second one you need to push the button to release the detent ball.

The last one you simply pull the pin and the detent ball is spring loaded.

I have the Isaac with the quick release pins (the second one in Ken's pic). Getting them off is a breeze, push in with your thumb and pull. Getting them in can be a little tricky, especially if you forget and put your gloves on first. But, the have a very positive lock and click to let you know there are on correctly.

If you are consious, they are NO issue in getting them off quickly. The 1 second max delay is faster than it is likely to take you to get out with HANS on. Now, if you are out and a corner worker finds you, the ISAAC hurts you as mose corner workers will recognize the HANS and most will not know what to do with the ISAAC. In my view, the design benefits and convenience of the ISAAC outweigh the increased risk of emergency extraction where you are out, but the is clearly JMHO.
