Congrats!

Brother Mike! Good on you man! My last DE I rode with a very fast instructor named Tom who ownes a 996 GT3 wrapped in Carbon Fiber film. What a blast for sure. I was smiling ear to ear as I was getting out at the end of the session and he said "dude, you need to trade in your turbo for one of these".

Very tempting. Maybe one day I will give you a jingle to ask the big why and get your take. I am sure you have posted on RT or other places, just have not been on RT in a bit.

Beautiful car for sure, enjoy in good health and I am glad to hear about your home.

Tom

wonderful cars!

Mikelly, I am new here and have lots of questions. Can I have your help? I would PM you but my post count is too low, so I apologize if I am mucking up your thread.

I can't decide which 911 is right for me. Based on your experiences, can you tell me what you'd recommend and why?

I do a lot of track (HPDE) throughout the summer and have owned several M3s, and am ready to step it up to the next level. I live in a climate that sees occasional rain and not much snow. I already have a daily driver, so the P-car wouldn't have to perform DD duties.

My budget is around 60K. I can go higher or lower but prefer to be around 60.

I am looking at:

996 TT
996 GT3 (would be my first choice if my budget is accurate)
997.1 TT (not sure if I can afford but if I could, would it be better?)

Kind Regards,
Ben

I'd get the 996GT3 if you are doing a lot of HPDE's and already have another DD.

If you really enjoy HPDE, stick with the NA cars. They are just less trouble over time (near bullet-proof) and just as much fun (if not more so due to the great sounds). Also GT series are much lighter than turbos.

thank you guys so much for the feedback!

I do enjoy HPDE but honestly, that's about 6 weekends a year tops. The rest would be spent on Oklahoma's long flat highways and the rare onramp. I'm beginning to think that my landscape is trying to dictate the turbo as a better choice, but I'm not sure.

Thoughts?

try to drive both. due to weight and unless the turbo is substantially modified, you aren't going to notice much difference below 100mph. How much time do you spend driving above 100? I must be getting old, because my answer (for street driving) is "not very much." Frankly, the gt3 will be faster around the track too, again, unless turbo is modified.
