Hi Adamson

Once again thanks to you for the great footwork in putting this together

It looks like we are really getting down to the business end of this project

I note in the Champion 4.2L project 40mm studs were used instead of the stock length 25mm

I assume that this involved deeper tapping of the blocks to accomodate

What length studs are being proposed here?

regards

Mike

What's the status of our little project here? Any updates on valve train or headwork?

Mike to your question about the studs here's a pic.

The OEM stud is 10 mm thick in the body and on the threaded ends are 8 mm thick. They are threaded in 25 mm.
The above studs utilized are 10 mm thick in the body and on the threaded ends are 12 mm thick. They thread in 40 mm deep.
Just a small component of this bulletproof build.

Hi Keyser
Thanks for sharing
Am I correct Rangers beast is now yours?
Or did I misread a thread elsewhere?
Seems that this should also be something we need to consider here

Phase 2 of the Champion Motorsport build has begun.
De novo engineering of cam shafts appropriately matched for this build and Champion has uncovered a new intake plenum design that's underway.
More to come.

Wow,
Reminiscent of an episode of Frasier

When penning a jingle for his radio show he started with

"Less is more" and a three piece ensemble musical backing

then as time progressed and the day came to record he had a 32 piece orchestra but the comment he gave which I absolutely believe we indulge with our cars is

"If less is more, then just imagine how much more would be" !

Mike this is just a little project done by an outfit that makes very little noise.
Certainly not like other big name ultimate projects.
Everything about the car is being looked at, deliberated on and then worked on. All from the driving feedback.

your quiet little build

Hi Keyser

small and quiet may be the input but from what I understand quite the contrary on the output

great work and hats off to you for the progress

I would be interested in knowing more, it would help me shape the progress I wish to make with mine

(cant PM you until I get a few more posts in so I'd best find something interesting to say!)

regards

Mike

Hi everybody,
Sorry I have been MIA for a while but it has been a crazy few weeks with work, family, etc. plus a new girlfriend who is trying to kill me…. in a good way though. lol
I met with Brian a little while back and we talked about the details.
He recommends the following:
-12.5 compression for the GT3s and 9-9.5 for the turbos.
-82mm stroke by either 103mm drop in sleeves or 104.1 sleeves that will require machining of the cylinder cases\housings and crank cases\housings.
- At 82mm stroke, titanium rods will work as well.

Everything needed will be provided; modified cam and rod bearings, head gaskets, etc. etc. There will also be a new Porsche #8 main bearing piece which will come modified for the oiling system; an additional $250 cost but I think it is worth the few bucks so you don't have to do it yourself. A piece of mind knowing they do them all the time and will be done right.
I am working on valve train and head studs as we speak.

Alright, when do we get this ball rolling? I want to start collecting parts and getting things together for my next winter tear down! I'm firm on 82x103's 4.1L with the right oversized valves will still be enough power for me!
