Upper Center Console Delete

Just got my console delete package today for my GT3...Does anyone know how to remove the existing console??? I know there are two screws to remove and some clips. I am just looking for the procedure where to start. Thanks.

Rockit, I see you got your plate, very cool, what did the console run through Suncoast? Post some pics of the install if you can.

Thanks JAS.... I must give credit to where credit is due...03C4S came up with the plate idea...I think the delete package was $135.00 with shipping. That included the black plastic piece which is separate from the carpeted piece. I will post picks of the install process...

It is not to hard to do if you can find all the screws. First thing first... remove the carpet and plastic trim from the foreward console and remove the foreward console. Next, remove screws... Look under the ashtray, under the rubber mat in the armrest console, and under the coin holder also in the armrest console. Remove them all (there are a bunch) and the whole lower console will slide righ out allowing the console delete to slide right in. Do mind as there is an alarm wire attached to the armerest console latch. You can also look at Porsche Petes Boxster Board as several have done the mod there or you can pretty much follow the directions for the R&R of the parking brake.

Good luck.

I have not gotten around to taking any photos of the console in the GT3. However, here is a photo from my C2 with the console installed. It is a great modification for me as I find the foreward console sticks me in the side of the shin and makes heel & toe downshifting awkward.

Its like any other factory trim piece WRT quality and structure. Once in place it feels solid and looks like it belongs. I will try to get some photos from the GT3.

Thanks Sloth...Not as simple as I has hoped, but I will give it a crack tonight or tomorrow. Worried about that alarm thing, but will endeavor to avoid disconnecting it.

The alarm wire is not a big deal, just something to be aware of. It is just a simple wire running to a microswitch at the location of the latch for the armrest console. While not as easy as installing bumper plugs, it is in the realm of a competant DIYer.

Good luck.

The upper center consile delete operation was a success. In short, the torx screws holding the main lower console that contains the shifter, E brake, ashtray, ect must be removed so that the entire console can be pulled up about five inches which is necessay in order to slide the delete package into place. I have pics and will provide them with detailed instructions/with schematic hopefully tonight....
