991 GT3 or C7 Z06?
Pretty damn amazing! $80k for 650HP. Add a little for the Z07 and we're about $90k for a WELL equipped monster.
Has any other review come close to a 2.5 0-60mph in the new Huracan? I think the car is awesome but those numbers are almost too good to be true. Could it be a 'ringer' sent to C&D?
Bish
I personally think the Huracan LP610 is a 2.8-2.9 sec car to 60 in line with the 458 Speciale and The 650S.

#2 Even if it is a press 'ringer', I'm sure it doesn't have that much wrung out of the engine to greatly improve the performance at that level. I mean - it isn't like it is using turbos and raised the boost.
my personal opinion is that the Huracan sent to C&D is not a ringer. But C&D are always "optimistic" with their numbers. They tested the 918 standard car (not the Weissach pkg car) at 0-60 in 2.2 secs and standing 1/4 mile at 9.5 secs. No other magazine has come close to those numbers with consensus around 2.5 to 60 for the 918. I have read that C&D apply atmospheric corrections to observed numbers to standardize across all their tests that inflate the performance numbers.

Weight is 3,4xx lbs, lighter than every other sub-3sec production car.
Atmospheric corrections do not apply to 0-60mph. It is for 1/4 mile times.
The 918 has quite a few variables so .3sec variances may be normal with that car. Haven't we seen .3 variance with the 911 TT?
Also, the variable AWD means once rolling, it could go to full RWD hence removing the parasitic loss of AWD, no?
You guys shouldn't worry too much about the huracan and focus more on a zo6 vette costing 78k now. Though I still prefer a GT3. Until I can afford a GT3 bye bye C2S build, hello zo6. Well depending on when the cayman GT4 pricing is released
The GT4 has some AMAZING potential. But the new Z06 (forgetting that almost impossibly low price point) is just incredible.
I'd suggest that the higher priced AWD coupe (Huracan) would not be cross-shopped often with the Z06. I know that I'm not even considering a Huracan for the wife to drive daily - whereas the Z06 is all over her radar (mainly because of relatively reasonable maintenance costs).
All that being said - I'm trying to distract her with me acquiring a Challenger Hellcat.
I think the key thing here is that the American auto manufacturers have produced some interesting products that are starting to eat into the minds of consumers like never before. Admittedly I too am considering a Z07 because for that price it's nearly a no brainer.
I think all those considering the Z06 are in for a rude surprise... My friend runs a smaller Chevy dealership and he told me he is getting only 2 Z06s in the next year and they are both sold out! I think there is going to be a long waitlist for the new Z06!
With specs and a price like that I'm not surprised. Hopefully Chevy is making a business case to crank out as much as the demand calls for. I know I certainly will end up with one.
These rumors happen all the time with every car manufacturer. They are all nonsense. Maybe only true with certain ferraris.
The C6 Z06 had quite the feeding frenzy. There were wait lists everywhere. People were paying crazy amounts over MSRP. It was mayhem. This could very well duplicate that as this car is as astonishing (even more actually) than the C6Z was when it came out.
IMO.
IMO.
It continues to amaze me that consumers, especially at that spending level, will pay over MSRP for vehicle during the initial roll-out, rather than wait and save what, $5k to $25K plus?
Because they are stupid. It only makes sense to do that if you know it's going to go up in value. Which you rarely do.
Happening right now Alfa 4C. It happened for 2 years for the GT-R. It happened with the Plymouth Prowler. It happened with the prior model Shelby GT-500 (and many other models).
Not nonsense. Just waiting for manufacturing to catch up with demand. And perhaps combined with the smaller size dealership, this may be an indicator that the car is simply in relatively large demand for a particular area (which is good news for GM).
