Fabspeed is looking for a 991 GT3!

Hi guys,

I figured i would throw this out there and see if any forum members are interested. We are looking for a 991 GT3 to verify fitment of our exhaust on.

If someone is interested in letting us use the car we would be willing to comp you a system for the car, if you are not interested in adding an exhaust to your 991tt but have another car you have been thinking about doing an exhaust on, we can work something out in that regard as well.

please let me know if you are interested in the offer or would like more details! The car does not have to be local, we can figure out transport if necessary.

The easiest way to reach me is PM or email (david@fabspeed.com)

Thank you!

- Dave

I have! They are fresh out of loaners we have (had?) one on order but I have no idea when it's slotted to arrive. Plus, this would be a great opportunity for someone to get a great exhaust for next to nothing!

I was cheekily referring to the fact that all current GT3s are parked at the dealerships awaiting 'repair'. lol

I may have considered working w/ you (I'm located in Cleveland) and former customer for my 996.

Unfortunately, I belong to a close knit group that apparently just finished a long litigation against your company and I'm discouraged to hear the customer didn't come first.

This is not surprising at all. I had a similair experaince with fab back in 2004. Ten years later they still have the same business model. Do whatever it takes to get the sale.

Caveat Emptor in any dealings with fab!

Est8esq, if you’re referring to the Boxster race car, there are two sides to every story as I am sure you know. The car in question was sent here after it had multiple engine failures for diagnostic work and tuning. The most recent engine (the engine that was in the car when we received it) had already been tracked and raced while running improperly. The customer specifically wanted Todd from Evolution Motorsports to write a custom file for his car, which is why it was at our shop in the first place.

To diagnose issues such as the ones the car in question was experiencing, and to get Todd at Evo the data he needs to write files, we put the car on our dyno and do single gear pulls (not to get HP numbers but to log engine parameters (AFR, coolant, spark, timing, etc.) After these initial tests, we concluded the car had been running excessively lean and experiencing fuel starvation issues (keep in mind that it was tracked/raced in this condition).

We were not sure at that point if it was hardware of software-related, so we reached out to Evolution Motorsports. Todd, the owner and master tuner, personally created and sent us multiple tuning maps and files in order to get it running correctly and optimizing performance and reliability. Towards the end of our testing, our certified Porsche Master Technician noticed that the motor was exhibiting a ticking sound, and immediately shut down the testing and stopped all work on the vehicle, at which point the customer picked up the car.

Nearly a year and a half after taking the car to his mechanic, the customer contacted us to let us know that the failure was actually a rod bearing. We have previously had great success with tuning and modifying the M96 for dealerships race teams. We stand by the work we performed and always put the customer first.

Gunther, you have NEVER bought a product directly from us or had any direct business dealing with our company, yet you continue to follow us through the forums speaking of these so-called bad experiences. We have a great track record of extremely satisfied customers, and we will continue to do our best to please each and every one of them.

Sadly I was duped into one of your products (996 Turbo exhaust) by the owner back in 2004. The product was not as described and the promised warranty not fulfilled.

If you would like I can post some of the nice letters back and forth with the owner? As I told your owner back then I WILL share my experience with your company with anyone willing to listen. If you guys don't like it don't make promises you have no intention of keeping.

Wow this is a pretty small board. If there are already 2 people with these type of comments about Fabspeed, then something must be afoot. I'm not familiar with either situation, but aftermarket modifications are not expensive relative to legal fees so if a company is in a lawsuit with one of their customers, the chances are they ****ed up the car, not just the mod.

Well, I don't know anything about the allegations above, but I will say that my experience has been phenomenal for the past 4 weeks while Fabspeed has been developing their exhaust on my 991TT. I was reticent to be without my car, but the opportunity to have a full exhaust system at the cost of one way transportation (they covered the other way) was too good to pass up, not to mention we were still in the thick of our horrendous midwest winter.

What I expected was that I would ship them my car, maybe get an email or pic or maybe a vid midway and near the end of the process, and then get my car back. No, what I got was step by step text updates, multiple times a day, with pictures and videos almost daily. Honestly, it's the best service I've ever had by a vendor, and granted it was for their development vehicle, but there was no obligation on their part to spend an hour or more a day just keeping me appraised of what was going on w/ my car.

She just shipped out today (with 3 pics of her loaded up next to an F12 in the trailer to soothe my nerves) so I'll report more when I see her on Thursday!
