Ordering a GT3 need some help!
Hi everyone,
I am ordering a GT3 2015 and wanted some help. I originally ordered a Guards Red with the black interior with red stitching. Now I am having second thoughts and I have until friday to change my order around.
This is going to be my daily driver and I am thinking maybe I should get white or Metallic black. Keep in mind my seat belts are red and dials are red too. Also can someone tell me if the ceramic brakes are necessary option?
Is there anyone out there with red. The only ones I have seen are white and black at this point.
Thanks

Choosing a color is always going to be difficult.
Have a look here for some pics of various colors in different scenarios/lighting etc.

I'm having a similar dilemma as you regarding color. I can't decide between Agate Grey or GT Silver. I like white the best but every GT3 seems to be white. For example, my dealership has 3, all white. Regarding the PCCBs, it's a preference. Do you like the look? Do you like the convenience of almost 0 brake dust? Is the convenience worth 9k? For me, it's not. But I will say I loved them on my Scud and if they were 5k I'd get them.
What did you decide with the Sport Chrono and Front Axle Lift? I currently have them both specced but am really on the fence with Sport Chrono. Also, if you want the lightweight seat, they just became available. I chose them but note they do not have height adjustment or recline.

Somebody on Rennlist just got their agate grey GT3 with the black PDLS. It is an amazing combination. I went with white and should be getting it any day now. It arrived in San Diego on the 18th.

I'm going with PCCBs because I like the technology and will only track it a few days a year. You still get road dust with PCCBs, they are much easier to clean but they still need to be cleaned.
Sport Chronology has no performance factor like on a turbo with over-boost. Not necessary and pretty expensive on 2015 cars versus the 2014s. Front lift is worthwhile if you have driveways or speed bumps or concrete parking curbs to deal with, provides a little safety factor. The splitter can be replaced without much effort - not sure how expensive the part is, on my 997.2 it was $220 as I recall.
I would not go with the Sport Seat unless it's a primary track car - not as comfortable as the 18 way or even the 4 way seats, but they look cool. The 18 way seats with the adjustable bolsters can provide a nice snug fit - my preference.

I didn't select pccb's for reasons of cost and in a couple of years when I sell the car the rotors may need replacing and a dealer may mark down the car significantly. It's all conjecture, if money is no issue try both and go with the one that feels better. Btw, the stopping power is equal on steels or ceramics. Of course the ceramics offer a unsprung weight advantage.

Coming off an Agate Grey car, I am ordering GT Silver - Agate Grey is a beautiful warm grey that changes with the light, very livable. GT Silver is classic, and I personally like its warmer tone than the Rhodium Silver with its bluish tinge.

Sport Chrono is a glorified and pricey timing device and offers nothing more. If it was a few hundred, I'd probably go for it. As it is, I've declined.
Whilst the sports bucket seats look super cool there are a few drawbacks. Only available from November 2nd and thus would result in my build getting delayed significantly. They are really not suited for longish drives, anything above 1 hour and you're going to feel it. Hence they're not or me. Sticking with 18 way adaptives.
I've also decided to go with the lift. The main reason is that the splitter is not "below" the main bumper, it is almost at the same level and more importantly "in front" of the bumper! So unlike the the splitter damage one would incur on my 997.2 GT3, if you hit a parking block etc. it will damage your main bumper! Expensive repair! I've attached a pic to show the splitter and bumper togetherness. The camera is pointing up from under the bumper.

I was quite surprised when I saw it. It however it is far more rigid than its predecessor. I'm sure the new one is more aerodynamically effective.
PTS?!!! Hmmmm.... I wonder what color?
My dealer has had 4 GT3 allocations and one is PTS (Mexico Blue). I think that one is for December production as well. Once all the cars are delivered we're trying to organize a weekend of fun and games in the Smokies for GT3's in the spring. Maybe we can tempt you?

My build is option heavy because I plan to keep this car forever like my 2000 996 which I have owned for 14.5 years (since new)!
As for PCCB - I ordered it in my car. I spoke to my mechanic and he said the pads last a long time and he does not see the rotors needing replacement for even longer! He said this generation of PCCB has rotors that are even more durable than any previous gen PCCB which themselves were very durable. I have a friend who has a 997.1 GT3 with PCCB and tracks a fair amount (and he is a very good/fast track driver) and he still has not replaced his rotors 7 years later.
If anyone is interested, I am happy to post my build.

I have heard the same thing about this latest generation of PCCBs - not sure it isn't too early to draw any conclusions on these new PCCBs other than from Porsche marketing information. I have PCCBs on a 2012 Cayenne which have 35,000 miles on them and show zero wear on the rotors, none. Don't know about the pads. Also put 65,000 miles on a 997.2 GT3 and those rotors showed no discernible wear, but I did not track that car. My new one will be tracked a few days every year.
For what it is worth, I have a red 2015 GT3 (October production) coming to me spec'd very similarly to yours. I also deliberated between red, PTS and white. I chose red because PTS would delay my build and white seems to be overly popular on this car with 80% of my dealership's orders being white. Nothing wrong with popular colors but I also have another white car. I like black but my wife's black Tesla S is a PITA to keep clean all the time and shows dust within hours of washing and drying!

Please don't get white. Everyone is getting white. Also get the PCCB, sport chrono and front axle life. How could you get this car without sport chrono? That's ridiculous. You need to be able to launch the car and the dynamic mounts do a lot to quiet down the vibrations and engine noise. Plus how could you get a GT3 without the sport plus feature? Also everyone should get the front axle lift because the splitter is different from the old car. If you hit the splitter on this one you risk damaging the front bumper now whereas before you wouldn't. I need a red one with black interior and red stitching to buy from you 2 years from now for 40% of what you paid
