CGT question...
CGT question...
I remember reading on here that someone burned a SD card (I think) and used it in the radio, but I can't remember who..
My question is -- who, how? I have Macs, so not sure what Id need to buy...etc.
Dean
PS -- Had to send CGT back to dealership twice for minor annoyances, which means I've only had the car for about half of the days Ive owned it, but already hit 1000 miles. The car is a joke it's so good!
PPS -- Before anyone asks -- One shock turned out to be bad from factory (only became clear upon real driving -- so wasn't caught) -- Then left tailight died. Otherwise the car is perfect.

I burned a 1GB Sd card with songs from my Mac. What I did was just selected a bunch of songs and click-dragged the songs onto the icon for the SD card in Finder. The only problem with this method is that it seems that the Mac (or something) puts some filler info or some such onto the card, because I could only fit about 700MB worth of MP3's onto the card.
Also, some files seem to confuse the radio. Mine will "reset" upon playing some of the MP3's. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be consistent, so I can't reproduce it for the techs at my Porsche dealer.
Doesn't seem to happen with a CD of MP3's though.

Dean,
go to BestBuy buy a SD card reader & a SD card. create a folder on ur desktop. go to iTune to pick the sound u like & export them to the folder. i haven't tried other format yet but i doubt anything besides MP3 format will work. iTune decodes some of my songs to m4a format which i can't convert them back to MP3. u can find out what format u have under ''File'' ''get info''. after u export them u can use the reader to tranfer them to the card. don't drag the folder but the files itself. then it's the play time!
btw, not sure which OS u're running but u can drag the songs from iTune to the folder if u can't find the ''Export'' thing.

I've noticed if you try to make an MP3 CD of tunes, you can't use songs you've bought on Itunes music store. So I wonder if your player is resetting when you are trying to play songs you've originally bought on itunes music store.

Are you using SD card or MMC cards? I bought an MMC card and reader, and dragged itunes files into it. Some songs worked, others did not come up and several times the radio reset. I am also wondering if you can create sublists to make it easier to find the songs. Great feature of the radio, hope to get it figured out soon.

I am using an SD card. Personally, I think that the reset glitch is a problem with the "software" in the Becker radio, and not due to MP3 encoding or the card itself. I haven't noticed problems with MP3 data CD's that I have played in the CD unit, so perhaps it is specific to the SD card slot.
As an aside, what kind of MD are you? If you don't want to say in an open forum, PM me. I'm a physician as well.

In my RS6 I have the Euro RNS-e navigation system that has been modified for the US map and function and it has 2 slots for SD cards.
Went to Best Buy and bought a SIM card writer/reader and a 1GB SD card. Used a file I created converted songs I wanted to MP3 and made specific files for artist and or genre and it plays fine. All songs are MP3. I also use my Windows Media player and it detects the SD card so I can edit song titles arrangement etc. Best thing since ice cream these things are, ALOT of songs can be put on just 1 card I think close to a thousand.

I was WRONG about the amount of songs one can have on a 1g card, I was only able to put 189 on mine. Still ALOT but nowhere near the amount I read on some other forum. Thank God I have two slots and I am gonna get 2GB SID cards next. 4GB should be enough songs in case I want to drive to ohhhh the moon.

Honestly, the V10 sounds like any other engine at cruising speed. Of course, if I am going through a long underpass (no tunnels where I live) I turn off the radio, downshift, and make my own music.
