GT3 and GTS play together at Mid Ohio
Here is a nice video, although I would rather hear the sound of the GT3...but its nice to see a GT3 holding its own against a Viper again, a GTS with Ralph Gilles behind the wheel. Of course, now that the new ACR is out...that won't be a fair comparison anymore. Will be great to see how the RS does against the ACR. Fun times in the motorsports world!
Since I mentioned it, here is the new ACR spec...

Looked like fun, though the GT3 was holding up the Viper and too bad there were few clean laps. What event organizer/run group was that? Low track density, but slow/unaware drivers giving very few passing signals. And WTF with the two slow white cars, and the one crossing the blend line and going inside the apex curbing (i.e., off track) in Turn 1?
Holding up a Viper with Ralph behind the wheel is not an easy thing to do in a street legal Porsche, esp. one costing under $1m. I don't know what event, but I suspect those white cars were racing school cars (they run Honda's at the school at Mid-O) with newbies behind the wheel.
I couldn't read the graphics on the white Hondas, but they had similar markings so I suspected they may be Mid Ohio School cars. Still, crossing the blend line, whoa.
I don't know Ralph or anything about him, but he and the GT3 doing 1:35 with traffic is pretty good. Would have been interesting to see a clean lap.
Heading to Mid Ohio next weekend!

Rookie move crossing the blend line. Ralph is former head of SRT and has clocked a lot of track miles in the G5 Viper. Have fun and stay safe. Best track in the U.S. when it's dry. Ralph has the right line but is a little slow coming out of the keyhole and a couple other corners.

Thanks; I like Mid Ohio a lot, especially the section from the end of the back straight to the drop into Thunder Valley. Excellent sense of rhythm and very high back and forth lateral side loads given the linked turns. On a dry weekend start with a new set of Hoosiers and end up with no grooves left on Sunday. The only non-abrasive track surface that I've been on that will do that to the fronts.
I do not drive in the wet, but my students do. Some track surfaces are fine in the rain, others tricky; Mid Ohio is diabolical.

By "holding its own," I think you mean holding it up. The driving in the GT3 is not great, and Ralph clearly wanted a point by.

Hey, the GT3 posted a video from the same session...here it is!
I see from Ralph's note that the GT3 is on new Hoosier A7's and he is on Pirelli World Challenge slicks. That explains why he took a couple laps to make the pass, but the GT3 seemed to catch him in the segment from madness to thunder alley. The aero plays a big role there I'm sure. Anyway, it must be a PCA DE event by the fact that its basically all Porsche's in the run group except the Viper and the two driver' school Hondas. Everyone else seemed pretty slow in comparison. Love listening to the GT3 run through the gears and up to 8700 rpm.

What I think is amazing is just how much faster that GTS Viper is than the 991 GT3. I can't imagine what the TA 2.0 will do let alone the new ACR. That car is balanced really well. That gen V is no joke, fast, brakes extremely well, and corners well. I'm just jealous these guys are out on the track having fun while i'm at my desk at work lol.
