GT2 brakes on the track
Those of you who are running PCCB brakes on the track what are you guys doing. Are some people switching over to steel brakes? If so what are you guys using? Will i feel a big difference if i covert over to steel brakes? Where do you usually buy your brake parts from?
I have converted to steel brakes. I took off the stock PCCB and calipers and replaced with Factory Cup Car brakes (996). Take a look at Grussell's posts on what he has done. He has recently added big Brembo's - they are awesome!

im looking at different options to see what is more cost effective. I would rather not change calipers since cost is quite a bit in doing that. What are some options or is better just to keep it stock?

The PCCB is decent on track and superb on the street. Depends on how much money you want to spend. The Brembo GTR is the best but cost $12K. I replace the front rotors with Supercup Disk w/ Hat( AP 350x33, slotted) and rear with GT2 AP rear disk conversion (AP 350x28). And Pagid RS29 Yellow Pads. Reuse stock calibers. $4K parts and labor.
Very little squeaking on the street but a lot better then PCCB on the track.

I dont want to loose performance, and the PCCB brakes are ok but i have heard it gets expensive using them on the track. I plan to 30 or so DE's this year and want to do it without spending a ton on brakes. Since im not racing i dont need the best braking system out there. Just want to do something where i dont loose braking performance and use a system which is cost effective. Out of the two options i have heard could i change the front rotors to steel and use a black pagid as i did in my turbo? And the rear just change to the same pad and leave the stock rotor and caliper? I need to change my front rotors since its starting to show wear. Thanks for all your help guys!

With the $4k cost quoted for the other you'd save 40-45%. Put it toward a set of track tires!!
As you're not changing the calipers, you can use the specified pads or any other you choose. Race pads are such a personal choice with so many manufacturers out there.

Our Gt2 runs stock PCCB rotors and Pagid pads- And the car is tracked often.
Cup Car rotors will bolt up - Supercup has them on his car and likes them.
We havent had any problems with ours- although the stock pads will fall apart and squeel like little piggy's -
Flush with SRF - bleed the ABS pump too... And install some Steel braided lines- Your set..
Pagid pads are probably the most friendly to the PCCB rotors- PFC or anything else will most likely destroy the rotors.

With the proliferation of PCCB across the Porsche model line, I think it's very possible that the price of the replacement rotors will continue to come down. They used to be about $8K per corner, now they are $2K. If they get down to about $1K per corner, they will indeed be a very cost-effective solution even for the track... as they last at least 3 times longer.
Only reason why people ***** about PCCB is that the rotors are very expensive. If price was no object, I really doubt most people would change them out. Porsche even uses them on the new Cup car! Less unsprung weight, great initial bite, and doesn't fade... they really are wonderful brakes, and much better than the steel ones.

The problem that i have had with the ceramic brakes are that the pad lasts only 2 days of DE at the most. So i put in the yellow pagid RS19 pads in. Now i just have to change out the rotors. Going to work on locating what parts work for that today
I dont know guys. I have a GT3 with PCCB and so far 10 DE and street driving. My set of RS-19 still more that 50% and NO CRACKS AT ALL . Changing to still will change your Geaometry on Braking since you have more weight. ( Then again dont know how hard you drive) After almost a full year of track use I will consider trying to buy a used PCCB set and save as spare and use yours.
