It looks like I am going to be get an RS allocation from my local dealer. I might get the choice of taking his final '07 or getting his only '08 slot. He tells me that there will be no difference between the cars. I do know that there is an '08 facelift coming on the 997. I don't know if that will impact the RS? I'm trying to decide what to do? Any one hear about any difference between the model years?

 

How do you know there will be a 2008 RS? I am next in line to get the next RS that my dealer gets. He has been looking into this for weeks and can not get an answer. I was on the phone with several people at PCNA just this past friday and got know answer. Are you going by what your dealer says, or do you have info from higher up? Any info is appreciated.

I'm in the same boat. I was 2nd on the list for an 07. Now I'm first for an 08....if they make one. RZUNDEL, I hope you are right that you could even get an 08. What timing are they telling you for the 08? Either way, be happy, don't sweat this. You're about to get one of the best 911's every made.

 

90% sure they are making '08s... since they made only around 500 cars in '07 for the world... Porsches target was to make the GT3 RS in limited #s until they do model change... sources from Excellence (their sources from HIGH UP IN PORSCHE)

My info comes from a personal friend who happens to be the GM of the Porsche dealer. He only had two RS slots (of course already taken) when I asked him if he could help me find an RS. I had a GT3 on order and decided that I really wanted the RS or possibly a Ferrari 430. He called me on Friday and told me that he got an extra allocation and it looks like it will be an "08. He said that someone who had the '07 allocation might want the '08 but I would be getting one of them. I'm not sure where he is getting his information. I will find out.

My dealer said that the '08 will be a sept/oct build. He got this info from the factory rep.

 

It that turns about to be true, that's fantastic news. I'm having my dealer check into it for me and I'll let you know as well.

 

That would go for all models. Thats nothing new.
