I have an allocation for a April/May build that I was about to push out to 08 so that I can see what happens for the 08 RS - I'll ask the salesguy if he already has someone else waiting for the slot.

Yes, I looked at that one. They are claiming that they don't sell cars over MSRP. Uhhhh, except when they sell cars over MSRP. Clever Huh?

If you do your homework and are willing to wait a bit you should have no problem finding a 997 GT3 at MSRP. Be persistent send out emails to all Porsche dealers within a 400 mile radius (or more if your willing to travel). Cancellations are not a rare event with a car fetching over $100K. Stuff happens ....don't pay over MSRP. This car has a few hundred miles and is considered used, making it less likely to fetch that amount. I have always respected dealers that have a policy to never charge over sticker but to each his own.

Just confirms that Pioneer is perfecting the art of distracting customers...

My favorite story about Pioneer: I was shopping for a 996TT. This was in the 2001-2002 timeframe and I was at the dealership. The **SALESGUY** and I pass by 996 that had 030, no sunroof, bright red – a car CLEARLY ordered and optimized for the track. I ask him about it.

“It has the 030 optionâ€. He says.
“What is that?†I asked, knowing EXACTLY what 030 is why one would get it.
“It makes for a softer, smoother ride.†He says.
“030 is a softer, smoother ride?†I try not to sound dumbfounded.
“Yes, it is a softer, smoother ride.†He repeats.

This, my friends, is called a bold-faced lie: “softer†and “smoother†are NOT adjectives that can be used to describe the filling-loosening 030 option.

AND ………… I bought my 996TT elsewhere.

bald faced lie? or, is the sales guy just a dope?

The salesman I've dealt with since 1999 is pretty sharp, and knows his product inside & out.

Still doesn't excuse the markups & other games with GT3's & RS's lately, however. Maybe they don't realize that trying to make a few extra bucks on one car costs them dearly in many other ways that they can never calculate.

Take Mercedes of Escondido: They did a bad thing to a friend of mine 5 or 6 years ago. So far, between he & I, we have cost them at least 10 new Mercedes sales. Add in the service lost with those sales, and other items.
Many, many, thousands of dollars they missed.
Then, factor in what those lost customers told their friends about not going to Escondido because of what they heqrd.....& going elsewhere..... Dealers just don't get that.

How many people on here will avoid Pioneer because of threads here??

I'd probably head up to Hoehn or maybe Walters in Riverside.

This especially since the last time I was at Pioneer with my 6 yr old son (who by the way is also obseseed with cars) who was sitting in a 997 Cab that was in the showroom, was suddenly approached by Chris Huck and sarcastically told "you know he's sitting in a $110k car, so I'd keep a close eye on him..."

I did, as we walked straight out of the dealer.

If you could wait till middle of 2008 and get a 07 GT3, I am very sure you can get a perfect condition one for only $100-110K.
