Ugly Porsche Experience
first of all I think this is absurd. If i were you, i would file a Better Business Bureau report and then also send a copy certified to that bastard. lol
i would contact Chokeu2 to have this letter hand delivered and make a scene if you have to. You are buying a car, you are not begging - so why would u put up with this crap.
Interestingly enough a few years ago my brother and I were test driving a car and the guy is like is it for you. So i told him no. It's for my mother. He made a smart *** remark like then why isn't your mom not here. I told the guy my mom drives very little and she trusts our opinon. The guy made it sound like I was lying, so i slammed on the brakes and got out of the car and told him for Gods sake, i am not test driving a Rolls Royce. Left the car in the middle of the street for him to pick up and take it back. One of the reason I got that is cuz we are so young and the guy's attitude was worse than my ****.
so if i were you, i def. wouldn't put up with the crap especially since you are 15+ porsche owner.

That is why in the UK there are a lot of Independent Porsche Dealers that are true Porsche Enthusiast although there are mainly used cars for sale but I think they are expanding more and more over there for a reason customer satisfaction and demand . For me that will be a good idea that needs to be carry out to the US .
Is that the GT3 RS their internet sales manager was "advertising" a couple of weeks back ? I was surprised they would have an RS without a name on it, but at 50K over, it is a bit more obvious.
Alleged behaviour is inexcusable, they don't deserve your business. Overall, I've been less than impressed with the sales interface in most US dealerships (service guys are another story). There's probably too much easy money to make in the bay to care about building a loyal customer base.

In any business where you deal with people, especially retail, and high dollar retail it's never a good idea to show your frustration or disrespect the client/customer.
$50,000 is a lot of money, and the dealer knows that he can get the $50,000 from someone, on top of that, you have the built in $20,000 or so profit that the MSRP has included in it. So we're talking about $70,000.
Then there's the money that the dealer could have made on the initial sale of the non-RS GT3, figure conservatively around $10,000, then the re-sale of the non-RS GT3, around $5000.
So let's try to think what the dealer's thinking. He's thinking that he lost $15,000 in profit because you didn't buy a non-RS GT3 from him, when you decided that an RS was not for you. Then you sold the non-RS GT3 and didn't even let him have a shot at selling it for you. Now that you regret your choice of not buying the RS, you're coming back to him asking if he can have an RS. Did the dealer know at the time that you had bought and re-sold the GT3 when you went in asking for an RS?
At any rate, then the hot headed SM gets hot under the collar and thinks that he's lost $15,000 or so in profit already to someone who doesn't appreciate what they do, and so there's no way he's going to give up another $50,000, because who's to say you won't go and sell that RS and pocket the $50,000 yourself?
Mind you, I'm just saying that's what he's thinking, not saying anything about you. What is not acceptable in any business is to get bent out of shape with a client, there are much more diplomatic ways of expressing dissatisfaction or disappointment than threatening a client, because for sure you're not going to get any more business.
Anyway, just my .02, sometimes these dealers, or sales people of any product, forget that their livelihood comes from people who buy their widgets, take sports stars for example, they think their #$% don't stink just because they make a TON of money. Not realizing where that money comes from. But I digress.

Steven's Creek is currently one of the better Dealerships and Carlsen is the one that SUCKS.
I'd walk before I would buy another car from Carlsen (after buying a lot of them).
We all have different experiences and should go with what works for us.

I want to post what I believe is one of the most unbelievable sales experiences I have participated in or have heard of.
In the last 7 years I have owned roughly 15 porsche's to include referring at least a handful of friends to this local dealership in walnut creek california.
I originally passed on the 1st GT3RS allocation at this dealership because I thought the regular GT3 would be better suited for me. So I then went out and bought a 997 GT3 over sticker price from another dealer and drove it for about 2500 miles at which time I decided that I indeed wanted the GT3RS and sold the 997 GT3 and not at a profit!!!
I think i hurt my local dealers feelings because i did not by a GT3 from them. They had none availabe and I can be impulsive.
I went down to talk to this local dealer's GM and he told me that he only had 1 allocation for 2007 and it was spoken for shortly after I passed on it. I then asked him if he had the opportunity to get another GT3RS I wanted that car and he told me that if he indeed did get another car he would give it to me (Gentlemens" Agreement) which i have had with him before.
I found out about 2 weeks ago that this dealer was getting another car as an additional allocation from Porsche. I guess they are in with the local Porsche Rep. A friend of mine said they were asking $50,000 over sticker price!!!! I immediately called the dealer up and spoke with the sales manager who is also the owners son and he told me that the car was availiable and that for $50,000 it could be mine, my immediate response was total shock at what was taking place!!!!
Upon arrival at the dealership I waited in the lobby for the GM and the sales manager to come down and talk to me which they would not unless I went up to their office which was very odd to me but after about 5 minutes I went up.
I guess they did not want to humiliate themselves in front of there sales guys.
When I entered the GM's office he told me that they where no longer going to do business with me????? I was floored and after a few choice words I told them not to spend the whole $50,000 in one place because with business practices like this they would be out of business in no time.
The hot headed owners son who is the sales manager and should not be dealing with the public got out of his seat and told me to get off of the property or he would call the police!!!!WOW I was speechless and got up and left.
All of this over $50,000 profit?? Upon leaving the dealership I made a few calls to other area stores and they where shocked that they would do this to me of all people?? Then one of the sales people told me that this makes sense because this local dealer was trying to also trade this GT3 RS in exchange for taking 6 SUV Turbo off his hands. I took a copy of the forum mail.
Can you believe Porsche would give them another car like the GT3RS and they treat the gift like this???
Looks like the wheels are already come off the dealership to include having there sales down over 20% this year. Couldn't happen to a nicer group of guys!!
I think Porsche Headquarters needs to know what is going on here in the US with there franchise dealers and the GT3RS. I have owned almost every type of sports car you can think of and after this experience may never drive a Porsche again!!!!!
I am constantly bombarded by JD Power and Porsche for comments on my sales experience I wonder what they would think of this??
Any Porsche corporate protocal, suggestions or contact people you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
This non sense would not be tolerated in Germany and should be dealt with here in the US.

In your gentleman's agreement, you guys didn't mention price, so how could you be shocked over the $50K over MSRP. He did say it was yours. Just pay the $50K over MSRP, unless you guys spoke about pricing in that "gentleman's agreement."
Second, I find it VERY hard to believe in ANY circumstance that only upon entering the first thing that came out of the Manger's mouth was "we are not going to do business with you". Sorry, don't believe it. There must have been other words said by you before that would happen.
Why don't you tell us the whole story and the real story, b/c what you've just said makes no sense.
Not saying this is you but I've personally seen Porsche "enthusiasts" treating salespeople like crap - they feel that they are above the sales reps and above Porsche, almost like they are mad that Porsche took their hobby away from them and is now making money building cars for normal people and not the wacked out hardcore's that belong to the Porsche Club.

When it becomes "all about the money", it's just all about the money!
This is a two way street guys. I don't excuse the dealer for being rude and not handling the situation better, but put yourself in their shoes. You have a car that you can make 50k on, and a prospective buyer wouldn't put a deposit down. What would you do? We owned a Sea Ray Dealership for 40 years and occasionally we had customers that we bent over backwards for who would go buy a boat elsewhere to save a few grand. Then get pissed off and raise hell when we wouldn't service his boat. Now I'm in the Mortgage bis and had a customer I did two large (and very difficult) loans for, who now is in a much better finacial situation, that went with an online broker for an eighth of a percent! WTF! Think I'm going to spend any extra time with this guy to get his credit straightend out when he messes it up again. Not without $$$ up front! This message comes at an interesting time, I was just contemplating the service vs. cost idea. People today are so Walmart-ed that they think they have to chisle for every dollar. Just put yourself on others shoes, if you expect loyalty from your dealer or any other business you have to be loyal yourself. Don't go to your local hardware store to buy that hard to find two dollar piece and then run by HomeDepot to buy your lawnmower.
PS - No offense to the poster - I'm certain you deserve better, I'm just venting!

racerjsz,
I understand your point, but I don't get how or why or how you would even get away with turning away service business if the boat wasn't bought at your store. That doesn't make sense either.
