Atlanta people:Road Atlanta activity question.

I just saw the thread put up by a fellow Georgian, and it has caused me a fair amount of interest.

I'm about to purchase my first P car, and thanks to this forum, I've shyed away from the first car I was offered, and have gained some outstaning insight on making a smart purchase. Suffice it to say, I've gone from looking at an Anniversary 996, to a rather nice, low mile GT3 from the Lambo dealer near my place in Sandy Springs.

That said, that interest is even more peaked after seeing that thread on the goings on at Road Atlanta. Now for my questions:
- How often do such events occur?
- How do I get plugged into those events?
- I saw mention of rental cars at the track. This is something I'd be potentially interested in for my first time. Is it worth it?

I love road Atlanta, and I've piloted more than one of my Ducati's and Aprilia's around it. I'm now thinking that I'd really like the chance to burn up four tires on that track.

I have an EVO that I track up there fairly often. I would check the Panoz portion of the Road Atlanta website to find out more about timing. The last one just happened last weekend so it may be a month or two.

I saw the black GT3 you were speaking of, nice car.

Regards,

Good guidance! Thanks!

It certainly is that black/black GT3 sitting there on Roswell, they're asking $83 for an 04 with 94xx miles on the clock; I bet they'll take less. There is also a silver TT sitting there, but turbo power doesn't spin me up. I like the linear power delivery of a naturally aspirated engine.

Thanks for that. So you'd vouch for their rep then?

Definitely would. Eric and my friend Mike are the owners and we are on our second car from them. The first was an 05 E55 and my dad just bought an 03 911 Turbo. Great guys and good service.

Check that car though, I thought I noticed some wear on the interior that looked like it had been tracked. Just a thought.

I got my 996 tt from them - Jay Light was the sales person of record. I have bought a few cars from him. I like that GT3 and considered seeing if they would cut me a deal if I traded the tt back .

As for RA events and other close by tracks check NASA, PCA, Panoz. I'm thinking about the NASA event at Roebling Road in a few weeks. If you haven't run Roebling it is very fast and very technical.

Thanks Brian, I'll certainly take a closer look at the car. I'm going to take a tech up and look at it.

JRL, it is a nice ride... so is the TT sitting next to it... Money talks!

I've been on Roebling on a Ducati... It was a bit of a rough ride. But that was a couple years ago. Thanks for the pointers.

We are lucky there are quite a few DE events that go on at RA.You will be in good company as I have 6 P owners that attend them on a regular bassis and you will have a blast. a great bunch of guys.

Neil, Thanks!
I am extremely excited to tap into the community! I have MUCH to learn. I've come from sliding a Ducati around the turns, so I need to transition from bikes to P cars. I'm pumped about the learning curve.
