Difference Between '03 and '04 GT2

I did a search and couldn't come up with anything.

Can anyone tell me what's the difference between a '03 and '04 GT2?

Thanks

2003 to 2004 Gt2 got a power hike to 483 bhp up from 462.
0-62mph drops to 4.0.sec. Top speed climbs to 198mph

Previous GT2 performance was 4.1 sec and 197mph.

The improvements in HP was achieved due to some revisions in the ECU.

There were some slight changes to the suspension as well. The shocks and springs were modified and so was the ABS, which became a bit more sensitive.

The rear wing was available in unpainted carbon fiber and weighed 6.2 lbs less than the previous model year's. Also the mirror housings and air output slats in the front bumper was CF. The previous model years did not have that.

Also the 04 GT2 has GT3 style wheels where as the previous years had the twists.

Arling,

You're welcome.

BTW, was your GT2 an 02 or 03? Why did you get rid of it? The CGT would've had a friend. lol. Any pics of the ex GT2?

Sorry for the hijack Cyrus!

I take it these changes go for 02-04 as well. I saw a 2002 gt2 but was not sure what was different from 03,04, and 05.

Only the 04 and 05 model years have the changes listed above.

The number of 04 and 05 model year GT2s in the U.S. is very small.

Unofficially it is believed to be something like 24 for 04 and 5 for 05. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

How many 02's were there? Is there any know draw backs or problems with the 02's that later years did not have? What is the weight of the 02's?

According to this "2003 end of the year report" from PCNA, 184 996 GT2s were sold in the United States in 2002.

http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/st...2083092&EDATE=

Remember that the first year of the 996 GT2 was 2001 (for Europe & ROW). They came ashore in the U.S. from model year 2002 and on.

I believe the weight for the 02 was 3175 lbs.

As far as problems, I have not read about anything major. The 996 Turbo & GT2 are very reliable cars. As far as drawbacks when compared to following years, there are more of the 02s than 04s and 05s. That's all that comes to mind. And of course the revisions the 04 and 05 has. But that's nothing a little modding can't address.

Guys, thanks for the info. By the sound of things, an '03 would be the best of the "available" cars, being that there are hardly any '04 and '05s, and slight modding to get the max hp.

Cyrus
