next generation CGT
i've heard such thing as well but i find it's very hard to believe because there's no point for a supercar improvement certainly next supercar era is not around the corner. Porsche should be very busy with the Panamera in the next 2 years at least.
An article in CAR magazine about the CGT build process had an interview with one of the higher-ups and they said that a "CGT-level" project comes around every 10 years at a minimum.
They keep these gaps in fairness to the people who purchase these cars and additionally see little reason to create such technology showcases every 5 years or so when no major leaps in capability occur.

Super cars come out every 10-20 years. Look at production gap between the 959/CGT also the F40/F50/Enzo.

actually not first, I am 3rd on their list. They don't pretend to know anything for sure only that porsche has made it clear they are considering a second generation car and they are guessing it could be as early as '09. I don't think there is any bad intentions with this dealer taking deposits.
I would not hold my breath on this car coming out anytime soon. We knew about the Carrera GT concept in the late 90s and the prototype car that was shown to the public was built in 2000. The car did not go into production until 2003. We'll have quite a bit of advanced warning if they are indeed planning on releasing something. If they do release a successor, I would not expect it until well after 2010, if not later.
I understand getting on a list, but taking a monetary desposit on a car that doesn't even exist, or my not ever exist is pretty silly and the dealers are just looking to make some extra cash.

I can't give you an exact date on that issue... I guess it would have been a few months after the last CGT rolled off - whenever that was.
