996 GT3 Massive cooling failure...

Big coolant hose on the right side of motor blew apart yesterday afternoon and sprayed gallons of coolant all over the engine compartment. At the dealer now awaiting delivery of new hose...apparently nobody in southern california had one in stock.

EXACT same thing happened to me last friday. Now the car is at the dealer. Not sure whether they have the part in stock or not. I was rather mad because I only have the car for 2 weeks.

I only had mine for one week...It's an 04 GT3 with 19,000 miles. Dealer claims they've never seen this happen so they don't stock the part. Hope its covered under waranty...

Yup, that was me... The dealer that the car was flat bedded to didn't have the part in stock either.

Just got my car back from Rusnak Porsche in Thousand Oaks, CA. Was a little upset they didn't do a very good job cleaning the coolant out of the engine compartment. Glad to have my car back though and I cleaned it out myself and probably did a better job than they would have anyway. They did however turn my car round in one day which I really appreciated. All was covered under warranty including the tow and an A4 turbo loaner car. The hose had a slit on the bottom side, right side engine compartment.

Anyhow, here's the part number for that hose- 996-106-501-76 "Coolant Hose".

These seems like a real problem. There must be a better substitute. This weak hose will leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere. I'm just glad it didn't happen while I was coming across from Houston back to California.

My invoice was the same except a quantity of two for the coolant hose and o-ring. Weird... It's not like there are two of those hoses?
