Hi, I'm going to the track for the first time at Button Willow on 9/17. Is the paint going to get beat up? Should I tape it up?

 

FWIW I have done two track days recently and did not tape... I have not noticed anything out of the ordinary.

I was at Pacific Raceways in WA State.

 

TAPE IT UP!! I REPEAT TAPE IT UP!!!! Painters taper is harmless for a couple of days and it may save you GT3's front end.

The front end of my NSX needs to be repainted because of the 4 years of track use.

 

I would for willow, especially if it's your fisrt time, lot's of gravel and you could take a dirt bath or 2..

If you are concerned about it, tape it up!!!!!!

 

Blue painters tape. If anyone goes off the track, there is usually gravel everywhere.

if you are scared to damage your paint or the car.....don t track it...

 

Dude I have been on tour, picked up a E55 along the way.. srry bout the hijack..um..yeah ..tape it dude, you have a black car too..so..tape it, plus all the chicks will be like, "Yo that's a racer guy, look at that blingy tape on his ride" while you are driving to and back from the track.

 

Tape heavily and avoid trying to take turn 1 at speed. You're car will be full of dirt, hay and rocks.

 

haha turn one is notorious. Just break early out of the esses. Your going to love this track though.

 

Does the blue painters tape really do anything? Other than for a little sand blast I'd think it's too thin for any kind of pebble bigger then a grain of sand.

 

not scared, just trying to protect car and hopefully keep it for a while. I have the 997GT3 and just broke the 2000mile breakin period in 2 months.

 

Have a blast Tony. I love Buttonwillow. Tape it up, there is lots of gravel there.
