Driver dies in Lamborghini crash on LA freeway
Saturday, August 30, 2008

(08-30) 16:54 PDT Los Angeles, CA (AP) --

A 30-year-old man died early Saturday after his Lamborghini went through a guardrail on the 101 Freeway, plunged 30 feet and landed upside down in a parking structure.

The lime-green 2008 Lamborghini burst into flames upon impact, California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball said. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the 2:30 a.m. accident in the Woodland Hills area.

A county coroner's spokesman said the victim's name will not be released until his relatives are notified.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.

Lambo accident

I'm not sure how many lime green Ls there are in that area or coming thru. But I saw one, once or twice filling up with 100 octane at the 76 station nearby. I think he said he does the Sunday morning runs starting from the coffee house over there as well. Hope it wasn't him. Tragic. Prayers for the family and friends.

beemer freak, I read on L.A. Times that the driver was from Calabasas. It will probably be the one you saw.

It was a Gallardo.....there is video where you can see the new style rim and that is the only way you can tell it is a Gallardo. I think it is the worst wreck damage I have ever seen. I own a Gallardo and couldn't tell what it was.

That guy owned that car about a week....

Sad to hear...

Would I be safe to assume that since it was at 2:30 in the morning on a highway and it was a new car, there was some rather "spirited" driving going on?

Very sad to hear. Since it was at 2:30 in the morning I wonder if it had anything to do with alcohol consumption, or if it was just a case of driving beyond your capabilities. Either way, RIP.
