06 has shorter gears, more power, and more options available. Worlds better, in my humble and naive opinion.

05 is like 04. 06 is like 07-08.

The '06 has the updated E-gear, 520 hp (vs 500 for '05).

They both have nose lift, clear bonnet option, Callisto wheel option.

06 got updated exhaust also. Louder, and contributed to the power bump.

06 is still selling relatively higher. Keep in mind if you plan on adding a aftermarket exhaust, the upgrade to power doesn't really matter. The engine is essentially the same just more restricted on the 05 due to the exhaust that year. If you plan on modding the G just save the money and get the 05. Also there were far fewer 05's produced because Lamborghini over anticipated demand in 04 thus drastically reducing production to 05 then leveling out again in 06. I went through this same dilemma and ended up with the 05 because at the time about 5-6 months ago the 05's were selling in the mid to high 130's and 06's were still hovering around 160. I drove both and the shortened gearing is not a positive feature to me. I love the tall gears on my G and my ability to hold high rpm's while cruising waking up all my neighbors at night especially with my cat bypass. In the end it seemed like th 05's have already taken the initial hit in depreciation while the 06's are still trying to hold. Hope that helps!

I've heard this also. The extra 20HP for 06+ was due to the new exhaust.

The 06 feels noticeably quicker. They use higher flow air filters, new exhaust, and shorter gears. If you modify your G that will make up the HP.....BUT even modded I can still feel the difference in acceleration between an 05 and an 06. At that point, it's the gears. The extra money you would pay for the 06, you should be able to recoupe as the 06's will always bring a little more than the 05's. Maybe not all, but a good bit. Buying an 05 is not a bad decision though....It's still a LAMBO!!

Roy has a fantastic deal on a fully loaded '06. The car is in great condtion, no paint work, with immaculate interior. The only knock on the car is the miles...20K. Hence, the super price. I can personally vouch for the car; it used to be mine!
