Looking at an 04 G, please help!!

Hello everyone,

I am going to look at a Gallardo this Sunday that is located in PA (2004, 6 speed, 500+ VIN, 6 speed, orange, Tubi, clear bra, new clutch, 11K miles). I just received it's PPI and everything looks good with the exceptions of two items. The items are:

1) possible small AC leak (compressor oil on bottom of compressor)
2) small oil leak @ oil pump (weeping)

My questions are:

I) would these two issues hinder your decision on purchasing the vehcile if all else is in great condition?
II) Is this something I need to be worried about? Is this a big deal? Is it costly to fix?

In speaking to a few dealers in geting their opinion, they stated that this is common on 04's and it's not something that would stop them for getting the car if all else is well.

Please give me your opinions as I would HIGHLY appreciate it. Thank you.

ask a different dealer what it would cost to fix those 2 problems and base your decision on that... I myself would go for a 2005 or newer... 04's dont have the front end lift system

If it's the car I'm thinking of, despite the minor problems, it's a great deal. I would go for it.

I think that was 06. Not 100% sure, but I didn't think the 05s had the front lift system either.

PPI shows it has had the ECU re-flashed, so I am assuming that means it has gotten the updates.

Do you know anything about this car?

This is my first exotic and I want things to go well. Yes, the deal is very awesome and that's why I am looking at it Sunday. But I don't want to get into a mess. So, any info you have or recommendation, please let me know. Thank you.

Thanks for your opinion, but I don't care much to have the lift system or not and hence, an 04 would be OK for me.

(btw, 05's did have the front end lift system)

The current owner and the previous owner were pretty **** about the care of the car. No blemishes IIRC besides one little nick in the clearbra on the very front of the car. Other than that, the car is in great condition. Runs like a champ and sounds incredible. I think you'll be very satisfied with the car once it's yours.

Ya, but the question is, are the two issues noticed on the PPI a big deal??? I think this is the most important question before I lay any cash down. I hope someone with an 04 G (or any owner) can chime in on this subject.

I am very excited to see the car tomorrow and drive it.

I bought an 04 car last summer, it had had a brand new clutch and the software update done on it. My car had no issues and I'm very happy with it.

I do agree that you should find out what it would cost to fix those problems though. Even though these cars can be had at great prices, service and parts can be costly. I paid 119k for my car last summer with 4500 miles on it.
