Buying a Gallardo

Can you guys please give me tips on what to look for?

I'm looking at a 6spd only.. any color except silver.

My friend told me to stay away from 04-05's?
are they unreliable?
What should I look out for?

Thanks in advance.

I think there is much research needed on your part in terms of searching for reliability threads on both here and lambo forums...

But no, it would be like someone telling you to buy a 03 turbo and up...when there's nothing wrong with an 01-02. Sure, 06+ had some good changes but I would not conclude that 04-05 were bad cars. If it's worth the 20K premium for you, then of course why not...get as new as you can...

Are you looking for something nearly new or are you looking for a deal on something several years old?

'06 really has the best world, when it comes to engineering updates- 'ya always want to stear clear from the early issues and wait until the manufacturer fine tunes the product.

Nothing wrong with an 04 or 05. Stay away from early production numbers under 400. I have an 04 with 25K miles and it has been problem free for me and past owners. The 06 had some updates mainly in the Egear and more power. Its all up to your budget, but with a 6 speed its hard to go wrong. Main thing is look for a reliable dealer and have the car checked out. The Silver and Yellow are the most common colors and usually dont bring as much.
good luck with your seach

'06+ also had gear ratio changes.

Two tone seats tends to command lower resale.

p.s. noticed you're also in Edmonton! PM me... we'll have to get the cars together for a cruise this summer.

05 also was first year with the nose lift. Very convenient and useful.

Since you are looking for a six speed it should be easier. I was told that the early 04 (0400 production numbers and earlier) had e-gear issues.

Roy,

Any chance you can explain the changes made to allow a U.S Lambo into Canada?? Last time I looked into it you needed to get a recall letter from Lambo Canada and it cost upwards of $10,000!!

You have sparked my interest...
